R9 280x opencl score

Hello, i make a new hackintosh for video and photo editing. Final cut and aperture use massively opencl so i want know the luxmark score of this gpu chipset if somebody have make this test.

Did some testing today. I got an i7 3770k @ 4.2 ghz 16 gb ddr3, Samsung SSD , one vapor x 7970 with one r9 280x crossfired both.

7970 @ 1050 mhz

scenes/sala/render.cfg

2268 points

r9 280x @ 1070 mhz

2311 points

both together 4593 points.


7970+r9 280x + intel hd+ i7 it dropped down to 3160 points (strange ?).

I scroll thrue my RAW pictures in my Aperture library without any lag, Final cut is just.....fast ;-)

I don´t know how it compares to g force cards, but I m happy

Hi Francis,

Thanks for sharing your results! I didn't realize that one could take advantage of crossfire in OSX. Out of curiosity, what motherboard are you using? Another user is having trouble booting from the 280x, and I wonder if the motherboard makes any difference...:

Hey !

Well I had an 7970 before and added the r9 later, I guess crossfire won´t work for games in mac os ( haven´t tried yet). Mainboard is an msi gd65 gaming edition, patched bios. I boot blind ( igf on) into mac os, using an 2560x1440 korean monitor on the DVI-d port of the 7970. My prob right now is that the wifi pci card has no free slot, cause those gpus cover all slots (they are huge but look almost exactly the same !).

I installed 10.9 with unibeast, no specific multi beast settings, network not working (killer). ( with intel hd ) later added the gpu. I first had to boot from mbr formatted with graphicsenabler=NO and do the sleep trick once.
I hope I could help, sry for my bad english.

btw mac os shows both cards as a fire pro d700
