Hey everyone.

Been looking into doing a hackintosh project for a while but am fairly green at the process. Wanted to do a quick sanity check in case I'm wasting my time.

I've an old macbook running snow leopard that I've been running for ages. I'm interested in the idea of migrating the contents of the macbook to an external usb drive that other pcs could boot from.

I'd be happy with an external snow leopard disk, I'd also be interested in an external disk that I might be able to take through the processes of upgrading to younger versions of osx.

I saw the variety of tools available here & I'm guessing that the process starts off with my cloning of the macbook to an external drive, adding/editing a few .kext files, some BIOS jiggery-pokery & then it's all beer & pizza (hopeful, I know :p )

So what do you guys think? Is it possible? Is it relatively easy?

Chat soon!

Depends on the MacBook age - it it PowerPC or Intel socket CPU?
If Intel, it is possible with hardware from 2011 or earlier to boot a PC running Mac OS 10.6 thru 10.13 if you use the right system definition in your boot loader config.plist.
