Edit* the title should read SSDT.

So I followed this guide https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-creating-a-custom-ssdt-for-usbinjectall-kext.211311/
and all my ports are now working as far as I can tell.

It's the "as far as I can tell" that's the problem. There are three external USB ports on this laptop. Two A's and one C. The A's work great. The C I don't actually have anything to plug into it, so I ignored it. I know if I get something that requires a C port I'll have to go back and do the work for it. But assuming that I don't, are there any potential problems that could be caused by me just ignoring setting it up?

Not possible to evaluate your work without problem reporting files.

No "Problem Reporting" files attached.
Read FAQ, "Problem Reporting" again. Carefully. Attach all requested files/output.

Use the gen_debug.sh tool mentioned in the FAQ, that way it is less likely you'll omit something.

Ah ok I was treating it as more of a generic question for the moment. I'll generate the specific files later tonight after the kid goes to bed and I have more time to concentrate on what I'm doing.

If you have a USB type-C port on xHCI, you will need a USB type-C->USB3 adapter to complete testing of the port (make sure to test in both orientations). Without the adapter, you cannot properly complete the "port discovery" process.

Yeah I should probably look around on amazon for something useful that I can plug in there to test with then.
