I will soon be installing a new heatsink/fan in my system was wondering about the orientation of the fan.
My case has vents on the top which I plan to utilize.

Which option works best:
A: Pull air from the top and push the hot air into the case while letting the case fans push out the hot air.
B: Pull the ambient air from the case and push it out the top?

Here is the cooler I intend to use: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA4RE4RT1326

You always want to pull hot air away from the components you're trying to cool. So use option B.

For a long time, I just had a CPU fan (120mm dual fans, Noctua). (my stock rear and top case fans died several years ago).

Got some extra funds and added Noctua 120mm front fan (sucking in cool air), and a rear 120mm fan (venting out hot air). This dropped the CPU temps by additional 3 degrees.

If I decide to add a 3rd fan (top case), it will be pushing out hot air. Why? Because heat rises... and my CPU is just below the top vent, so it makes sense for the top fan to vent out hot air.

So to your question, I suggest (B).
