Purchase Mountain Lion on Mac Mini 2012 fails

Hi,
I am attempting my first build, and trying to purchase ML from my Mac Mini 2012. When I try to buy it in the App Store, it says ML is not compatible with my machine, so I'm sort of stuck right out of the gate. I have researched some and found that the ML build on the newer Mini is slightly different than the one in the store, this the compatibility issues. Are there any workarounds? Also, is it possible to buy ML on another machine without actually installing ML on it (in other words, could I buy ML from an older Mac running Snow Leopard and setup the ML USB stick without upgrading the old Mac?)?

As long as the SL machine is running 10.6.8 it will work, just exit the installer after the download completes and the Install application launches. Then run UniBeast and create your USB stick.
