I have a PS/2 touchpad (Acer Aspire 7740). I can't find the make and model, because Linux doesn't support it and only recognizes it as a mouse. However, Mac OS X doesn't recognize it at all. In addition, the Multibeast PS/2 touchpad driver does nothing (no support, but no panic either, thankfully). Any ideas?

I am having the exact same problem. Linux just sees mine as ps/2 touchpad. I am still able to look up the manufacturer and stuff in Ubuntu though. I think it was lsusb or lspci. Just start using all of the hardware list programs and one will show you the correct version.

Mine was an elantech touchpad. But you are right, ubuntu just uses a generic ps/2 driver for it. Why can't osx do the same?
