Hi all,
After having followed the guide my sierra install is working fine.
But I do have some issues related to keyboard and touchpad:
- in system preferences touchpad entry is a blank screen; how can I fix it?

- for touchpad I really want to switch "on" tap to click functionality; how can I do that?

- keyboard binding entries are messed up; realized that we can change key bindings (way more messy way) but many people reported it also works fine after replace/copy a new kext?

- for keyboard's brightness button is there a way I can fix it without going through changing the key bindings?

Above all, I have read the latest available Lenovo Y50 guide that all kexts can be placed in the EFI folder /../ but what if we place the kexts in the S/L/E ? or just /L/E ? which one of the three is a sure hit?

Regarding above ^ I managed to enable(works fine!) my onboard Atheros 9565 wifi by installing the kexts in S/L/E using a kext utility. but doing the same thing in EFI folder didn't budge a thing :|
(if anyone wants I can share the files/steps)

Thanks!

Ok..so I found out the default shortcut for brightness from keyboard if voodops2 kext is used.
Use Fn+screen lock/pause to decrease/increase.

This line ^ should be stickied; pls ignore this if already available and I missed it somehow.. (goat eyes?)

I have tried re-installing voodoo kext using the wiki instructions, rebuilding kext cache & fixing permissions but to no avail.
am I missing something here? for the touchpad preference pane issue?

I also noticed that previously we were needed to install the pref pane manually but since it's been fixed in the kext itself?

yep, I did something like this and it works now; apparently many said it'll reset after a reboot but for me it stays put I guess.
will report further findings as I get to know.

@RehabMan I would like to know that even the many patches make sierra a working platform for our x86 machines but I don't quite understand that you've said before that sierra might not be the best stable platform as a daily workhorse.

If not sierra then which would be? As I am looking for a stable platform for development purpose. (@ALL IKR any ~nux distro...etc. but I am focusing on mac for now; been there done that so it's just me)

@RehabMan sincere thanks for the work you've done so far!

("Personal Details" link from "profile menu" in upper right corner of this site)

Mobo: manufacturer/model + bootloader(Clover/Chameleon/Chimera)
CPU: detailed CPU model + motherboard chipset
Graphics: all graphics devices + laptop internal screen resolution

For example, typical Ivy laptop:
Mobo: HP ProBook 4540s (Clover)
CPU: i5-3320m/HM76
Graphics: HD4000, 1366x768

Use CPU-Z on Windows to find CPU (Core iX-xxx) and motherboard chipset (HMxx), and graphics capabilities. For a laptop, these details are important and affect critical installation procedures.

Note: When specifying your bootloader, if using Clover legacy, please be sure to specify "Clover legacy"). Specifying "Clover" will be assumed as "Clover UEFI"

I've updated my profile/other hardware section for detailed specs; used Clover for a Clover UEFI setup.
Specs here for ref:
Lenovo Y50 (2015) i7 4710HQ, Intel HM86 Chipset, 8GBx2 DDR3L RAM, Intel 4600 onboard graphics + nVidia 860m 4GB (GM107 - maxwell variant), Synaptics touchpad, Atheros 9565 Wifi+BT, Full-HD LCD panel

That being said..I think my machine is working ok for now :}

You must fill out the profile fields Mobo/CPU/Graphics as per request in post #7.
Please read it carefully.
