I followed this guide to install Mountain Lion on my ProBook 4530 s model 167c with i3 2310m sandy bridge.

http://www.tonymacx86.com/hp-probook/77057-guide-installing-mountain-lion-hp-probook.html

Tried several flash drives, but the probook does not boot from the usb flash drives!

The flash drive will work fine in another desktop pc, I get the install screen. On the probook, it does nothing! No install screen, nothing!

Checked the BIOS, Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O" is disabled, "Wake on LAN/Wake on USB", "Fast Boot" is disabled.

Also, prepared a flash drive for Windows 7 installation from USB, works fine, boots etc.

The process for preparing the USB is different for desktops vs. laptops. Make sure you prepared your USB according to the ProBook guide.

I will move this thread to the proper forum (was in Lion/Probook, but OP is installing ML).

Make sure you use a USB2 8GB stick.

Also, clean the HDD of any existing content (use DISKPART.EXE in Windows with 'clean' command).

Installed a new blank harddrive, now i am able to boot from usb.

But after I see the apple logo for some milliseconds the probook reboots!

Make sure you reset BIOS to defaults. It is likely you have DEP disabled (OS X requires DEP).

Reset BIOS to defaults did the trick! DEP, I think that was the problem. This should be included in the how to.

I`m writing this on the ProBook with OS X 10.8.5.!

But I still have the Boot 0 error. So I need the USB-Stick to boot OS X.

Is there a solution for this? Thanks so far!

It already is... you just failed to read carefully:
Guide said:
If you can't boot for some reason, set all BIOS settings to default, and then try again,

Read the guide. It is covered in step 15.

Got it working, thanks! Need a new project now! Is there an easy build for a desktop pc with core i7 4770?

Desktop questions should be posted to the appropriate desktop forum.
