I am trying to access the app store and it is telling me "An unknown error occured". As stated previously I have no /Extra folder and not sure how to install the Essentials.pkg again. Any help would be much appreciated.

How come you don't have no Extra folder?

Which way did you install your OS X?

These would be some useful answers, so I can help you further

I installed on a new harddrive using Unibeast and the Mountain Lion USB. Even after installing a bootloader from MultiBeast no /Extra folder appears (and I have tried this with multiple bootloaders). Its a Gigabyte EP43-UD3L motherboard if that helps. I'm not really sure what to do from here.

I guess the Extra folder is hidden, use ShowAllFiles utility.

By the way, I guess the overall AppStore problem is that you don't have "EthernetBuiltIn=Yes" string added

There's a cool utility called Champlist that would be very useful for you dealing with this issue

Champlist: Download

Goodluck!!!

Same problem here

Hi,

my configuration:

Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3LR
MultiBeast 4.6.1 with EthernetBuildIn Yes, PCIRootUID 1, Official Realtek 81x driver and ALC 888 fixes.
Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT

I can't log in in App Store (Error: "Ein unbekannter Fehler ist aufgetreten." -> unknown error). Can't create a new account (spinning wheel is showing forever).

Tried the lnx2mac driver, network reset. Nothing helped.

ethernet:

Type: Ethernet Controller

I used the ShowFiles Utility and there is still no /Extra folder. Just to make sure I am correct: The folder is located if you go to "Computer" and then click the hard drive correct? As for ChampList it is telling me Chameleon is not installed. I just downloaded Chameleon 2.1 r1830 and will try to install it.

I'm sure the EthernetBuiltIn is the string I am missing but unfortunately I have nowhere to put it......

I had this problem and this is what I found to be the easiest fix:

Just navigate to the root of your installation drive then go to:

Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/

and delete: NetworkInterfaces.plist

(and make a secure copy somewhere else if you are sceptical!).

Reboot

Should be working now.

(I spent ages over this problem, scoured the Internet trying different resolutions... But this is the safest and easiest!)

:)

I attempted this and will let you know the results later. I was having the CMOS reboot issue and installed the AppleRTC patch and now am in an infinite boot loop that won't let me enter my BIOS....

:)

Worked for me. I first deleted "Ethernet" from Network in System Preferences.
Deleted NetworkInterfaces.plist
Rebooted.
Created new Ethernet entry in Network in System Preferences.
When I signed in the App Store quick unexpectantly but when clicked it again it started up fine and already knew me.
Bought Pages after a CC info check from Apple (new computer required confirm)

Err meant quit unexpectantly

Glad it worked for you too :)

Yes I had the instant crash but just assumed that was my particular set-up. Interesting...
