I am assembling a CustoMac Mini with MI-008 Case. Here is what I ordered:

Gigabyte GA-H170N-WIFI
Thermaltake Slim X3 Low Profile (Air)
EVGA GT 740 SC (single slot)
Crucial Budget (8GB)
Core i3-6100
Samsung 850 EVO 250GB
Apex MI-008 (w/ 250W Power Supply)
LG 14x BluRay Internal Rewriter

But I worry that if 250W Power Supply came with the case is enough power for the system? If no, what addition power supply should I buy?
Thank you.

250W is certainly enough for that hardware. If you do replace it be aware that you can't use a standard ATX PSU in that small case, largest would be SFX. SFX power supplies are not cheap either. Silverstone models start at $50 for a 300W PSU.

If you had no graphics card you could get by with a 160W Pico PSU. That also makes the build significantly quieter. They also limit the number of Sata power connections you can use.

This is pretty much the "CustoMac Mini" in the Buyer's Guide, but I have the same concern as the original poster: specifically because EVGA's website (http://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=02G-P4-2742-KR) says that video card requires a "Minimum of a 400 Watt power supply. (Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 20 Amps.) Total Power Draw : 64 Watts".

I'd just hate to buy this case (Apex MI-008 (w/ 250W Power Supply) with this video card (EVGA GT 740 SC (single slot)) and not have it work, since I'm not sure that you can put a higher-watt PS into that case. Has anyone built exactly this? Thanks so much ahead of time!

I know that the GT710 will work with a 250W PSU. You could go with that if you're worried. I'm assuming you want Sierra and not El Cap or an older version of OS X. The stated requirements for power supply specs for whatever card, usually are a little excessive for what the card actually needs. If a 740 only draws 64W of power at maximum, why couldn't a 250 or 300W PSU be able to handle that ? What is the CPU you will be using ? What types of drives and how many ?

You also have the option of going with something like the CM130 itx case. Then you can choose most any ATX PSU that you can fit in the case. It's in the Buyer's Guide. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DRA4F06/?tag=tonymacx86com-20

Here's another good mini-itx case option. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M2UKGSM/?tag=tonymacx86com-20

Good to know! This computer will be for music production and not gaming or anything video intensive, so "compatibility" is my #1 goal, so thanks for this suggestion!

Correct. I'd like to go with Sierra if I can.

Undecided on the CPU yet, but if I can, either the Core i5-6600 or the Core i7-6700, both of which say 65W

Ooo, these are good options too, thanks! I'm really looking for a case as small as possible, and I liked that the MI-008 is small AND that it has a built-in PSU, so if i can, I'd like to try that plus a Core i5-6600 or the Core i7-6700 plus maybe a GT710. If that sounds do-able?

Thanks again for the info!
