Mac pro 5.1
Xeon W3540 (soon a X5680)
Quadro 4000 2 Gb
Raid 0 SSD crucial BX300 (240 gb) on a startech marvell controller PCIe

with the raid on a sata III controller it should be faster no ?

Shouldn't they make around 500 mb / s?
Wanted to put them into a Raid0 to achieve around 1000 mb / s.

Any Ideas?

macOS 10.14.3. 128ggb internal ssd. (Mac Mini 2018 i7)
write speed seems low for this internal drive. (possibly cause 128gb model?)

I purchased the new Samsung X5 SSD and it was working great 2k+ speeds but then it got really slow and now it jumps back and forth. I guess it is not compatible with Mac mini 2018 as an external boot device.

This is 4 1TB Samsung Evo Plus SSDs configured in RAID 0. The Sonnet M.2 4x4 PCIe card was used.
The SSDs were updated to the latest firmware from Samsung. Older firmware won't work with macOS.

Are the nvme drives treated as separate drives when you use the Sonnet PCIe card? As in are they identified as separate drives even though they are using the same PCIe lane?

They are treated as one drive to the OS. RAID drive systems are "generally" used to make a much larger, faster drive out of many small drives.
