12535 (64 bit test)

Are you overclocking? Or does the GPU make that big of a difference? I have a similar machine and I only get around 10k in geekbench 64 bit

4.5 Ghz overclock and at stock clocks I got about 10k just like you so there are some clear improvements here.

My new Core i5-2500 with GA-Z68X did 8970 first time without OC.
My Macbook Pro 17" Core i7 2.2ghz did 9987.

I really thought that a desktop CPU with 1GHZ more clock was faster than a mobile CPU.

Is just below 9000 to be expected from a Core i5.2500k?
I got almost 11.000 OC to 4GHZ.

Mid 8k is about right for non oc i5.
The i7 is hyperthreaded and greatly effects the gb scores.
I had my i5 up to 4.1ghz and was getting 11,000 on 32 bit and seems like stock i7 can easily best that....despite a 1ghz different.
