So fittingly I had some fun yesterday OCing my 4790k in Yosemite (Clover instal) and testing each new speed on Geekbench 32 bit, here are the results:
@ 4.0
4084, 15449
@ 4.4
4073 (not a typo) 16079
@ 4.5
4171, 16378
@ 4.6
4269, 16648
@ 4.7
4340, 17034
@ 4.8
4434, 17324
Unfortunately I couldn't get past 4.8, I may try again later. What I find most interesting in this thread is the WILD variation in scoring from identical CPUs and RAM configs, especially with stock configurations. Another interesting point is that the 14,2 (27 inch imac) is posted on Geekbench charts as being below 4,000 on the 32 bit single core, so even though my stock 4790k config may seem low compared to other stock 4790k, its still higher than the genuine imac with a 4790k.
Really digging this thread!
I'm running on a Z97 Krait Edition MSI MoBo and using 16GB of 1886 memory. I also use a 290x but I'm pretty sure that geekbench doesn't utilize the GPU.
