BIG THANKS

I have had this kit since 10.9.1 and it was running fine for a while. Upgraded to 10.9.2 and then after a couple of months it started rebooting on shutdown and also took my cd rom hostage :beachball:. I eventually decided to deal with these problems and was making my own choices of the multibeast options with no
success and lots of stubborn reworkings. I came to my senses and found your settings.

Pleased to say all working fine at present but i am yet to add the power management that i have seen added by somebody else. I am not running a card and just uding onboard graphics at present and seems fine.

I have left the imessage alone for now as that caused me issues with the ethernet and i can live without that for now, maybe full stop.

 Thank you for sharing your settings.

I recently got Mavericks installed and this thread helped a lot. One thing that that I'll contribute: installing BIOS 10c seemed to fix the 4-slots-of-RAM issue for me, so start with that.

My HDMI monitor does not have speakers, so i'm not sure if the HDMI audio works. However, this is a very popular build- so if it doesn't work OOB, surely there is a guide to get it going.

iTunes and App Store work perfect. iMessage, however, does not.

Hi M71
I have 4 RAM slots issue with this mobo, I can only use 2 slots...
What do you mean by BIOS 10c? I think the bios for this board are all named F something couldn't find anything like 10c

If you could give me any suggestions...
Thank you

Thanks a lot for this thread.

I'm going to mess around with a few kexts, like the trim patch, and maybe see if there are any other settings in the bios I'm missing but I installed a fresh copy of Yosemite and like someone else posted earlier, the machine will randomly freeze. I realized that the usb 3.0 kext was the issue once (from latest multibeast), deleted it and was able to get past that issue but the freezing is a bit annoying.

If all else fails I'm going to try Mavericks instead, I did have that working for a few weeks and of course got cocky and thought hey let me try Yosemite.

One thing however and maybe I should create my own post but since everyone here has similar hardware to me in this thread I'm wondering whether anyone call tell me what's going on with the HDMI functionality - I hooked it up a large 4k monitor, and now I can't go back to DVI. No matter what I do. I've verified the proper gfx port in the bios, and where I can trick things into showing up on the Samsung dvi monitor, it's not a proper switch - like my samsung will be shown as the 4k monitor and it's complaining about the settings.

Long story short - I still have to try a few things but as of right now I'm not sure whether Yosemite is the right fit for this mobo setup.

Would be interested to hear if anyone with this mobo has Yosemite running well.

Also - the front USB ports are dead at this point - if you wanna join the ranters check on Amazon for this motherboard - you'll see a ton of people complaining about the same issue. And yes, I updated the bios :)

Hi, I'm new to this whole hackintosh thing, but your build is the closest thing I've found so far to what I'm after. The most important thing for me would be for it to run Ableton Live 9 without issue (Would like to have a separate Windows drive for games too, ideally).

A couple questions, sorry if they're stupid or elementary:

1. Would this build work out fine with the GA-Z97X-UD5H mobo instead, or would that change the setup process altogether? I haven't been able to easily find the one used in this build, but the Z97X is supposedly its successor, and it's also listed in the current Buyer's Guide.

2. Could I get away with a 650w power supply instead, or would it be best to stick with 750w?

And lastly, could I use a case like this, or would it just be overkill?

Appreciate any input from anyone!

I am actually a heavy ableton user! Ableton Live 9 runs great on this machine.

1. Yes, the Z97X would work, but then you also have to go with the CPU from the Buyer's Guide, and not my i7 4770k.

2. Yes you would be fine with a 650w. I don't even come close to maxing out my 750. But honestly, its not that much more expensive to go for the 750w.

3. Yes, you could use that case, but I don't think I would. To be honest, I kind of regret getting a big case like the Corsair 500r. I wish I went with this case.

It is an awesome case. Small, but it looks really good. Yes, it is an mATX, but it fits a full sized graphics card with plenty of room for multiple drives and fans/radiators. It also has a sweet glass window that would look cool with some custom LED lights installed.
