Hi Stork,
thx a lot for looking into this issue. Actual, it's about my/your HERO build. I found something in the manual (chapter 3, page 3-45) that looks like the thing you are talking about in your post way back then.

Best
Michael
No, that's not what I was referring to in that Oct 2015 post; it was for the Gigabyte and similar motherboards BIOS's at that time..

Page 3-45 refers to the Boot Priority. However, be sure to select the boot drive that starts off with "UEFI." Now, that might be what you are referring to as there is sometimes listed a Px or no prefix to your drive. So, always pick the UEFI drive.

And the tonymacx Oscar goes to........ STORK!!!
In the category Best Hero Bios insight.

You were right, my boot priority was on something else with cover...blablabla...efi and NOT the UEFI. Maybe/Hopefully this will solve my reboot issue.

thx a lot for your help.

best

I just discovered something interesting about the Remote Desktop Client Update 3.9.0 (Feb 24, 2017)...

For years, I have been changing the default port used for VNC. After applying this update, I did the same. However, I noticed yesterday that my computer was popping awake about 2-3 times an hour. Using pmset, I found that it was related to the network. I tested a number of things but it would still wake up randomly far more often than it ever had before. However, turning off wake on LAN returned sleep to normal. Then, I decided to reset the port back to the default and it started sleeping normally again even with wake on LAN enabled.

TL;DR:
So, if you use sleep and wake on LAN, DO NOT change the VNC port.

pastrychef, did you map the two USB 3.1 ports? I'm trying to do so for Gene and MyHero because I have a OWC Type C dock and several USB 3.1 Type C adapters. The adapters do not show up in the IOReg window under USR1/2, but in the RP09 section. Interesting.

On the Gene, it's not necessary to map the USB 3.1 ports. USB 3.1 is controlled via a separate ASMedia controller.

Yes, both the GENE and HERO have a similar design. Hmmmm. So, that might be the reason that a USB 3.1 peripheral would not show up under the USR1/2 ports. IOReg may not recognize that controller or more than two controllers.

It should be recognized the same way an ASMedia based USB 3.1 PCI-e card is recognized in a Mac Pro.

Both the GENE and HERO use the ASMedia ASM1142 controller which is suppose to have data transfer rates of up to 10Gbps. So, it must be 2nd Gen USB 3.1, I hope. :D Will do some testing after I finish my yearly US income tax paperwork.

For those who are using the iMac17,1 system definition, there is now new black screen fix that is simpler to use and should survive through macOS updates. The information is posted on the 03-01-2017 update section of post #1 on:
Black Screen with MacPro 6,1 or iMac 15 or iMac 17 System Definition | tonymacx86.com

How to install:
  1. Download Lilu from: Releases · vit9696/Lilu · GitHub
  2. Download NvidiaGraphicsFixup from: NvidiaGraphicsFixup download | SourceForge.net
  3. Extract both and copy the kexts to /EFI/Clover/kexts/Other

That's all there is to it. Enjoy the iMac17,1 system definition.

Just to be clear, using these two kexts means that you will no longer need to use the ADGPfix.

Thanks to vit9696 and lvs1974 for Lilu and NvidiaGraphicsFixup!! Thanks to shilohh for all your work and great writeup!!
