pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

OK. It seems that I can get the keyboard to get into the BIOS with only one (1) of the UBS ports The lower USB 2 port. That's a start.

I did a gazillion different things (more or less reset everything I could think of), and all of a sudden I could install a clean Catalina Vanilla with you EFI folder in it. Only had to add the Broadcom fix kext. Phew.... Thanks again!

Tried to take out the battery for 30-40 mins and shortening the CLRTC pins. No luck. When I press F2 og DELETE on boot up, the screen just turns black, and nothing else appears. There's a signal, since the monitor does not shut down because of no signal. The only way I can get into the BIOS is by removing all drives and boot and wait - and that only works sometimes! I'm using an Apple Magic USB keyboard. F8 for boot options works though? Now I just get an empty Clover boot menu. No drives present (because there's no drives connected to the MB). Where does the computer get the Clover boot loader from, when no drives are connected? Is it possible to clear the UEFI boot settings? Damn I'm stupid :banghead:

Remember to unplug the power cable when clearing CMOS. It won't work if the power cable is plugged in.

This is getting really weird. Last night, when I put the computer to sleep, it kept waking up and going to sleep without posting anything to the screen. (I've posted this problem before here, but was not able to solve it.) The light on my WiFi-card was lit (also the digital audio tos-link output is dimly lit on the back of the motherboard), so I know there was something going on. Most of the times the GPU fans did not move. But a few times it did for a few second at low RPM, and, before it went to sleep again, the fans sped up at full RPM. Then it suddenly went to sleep again, and all the lights went out on the motherboard. I went to bed after that, so I don't know if went on all night. This morning the computer was still asleep though. The last few weeks, the computer was awake in the morning :-/

This morning I could login with my wireless Apple keyboard connected via BT on a BT USB dongle. After login, none of the USB ports worked - not even the USB BT dongle that I just used for logging in!? WTH? :) Yesterday, when I got the system to work again, my computer did not recognize one of my M.2 drives. Not even in the BIOS. To try to fix the USB not working, I unplugged the "ghost" M.2 drive (in the upright position), and then the USB worked again. Maybe the M.2 is faulty or died in the process of splitting everything apart yesterday. I thought I was careful though.

Besides of installing Bitwarden, there is no additionally software installed. No drivers no nothing. If the alternative is paying 5000$ for a similar iMac Pro, I can live with the very irregular sleeping behavior of the computer, but I would like it to stay asleep when tucked in at night :-D

Please enter the following in to Terminal and post the output:
Code:
log show --style syslog | fgrep "Wake reason"

Have you applied one of the proper USB 15 port limit fixes? There can be unexpected behavior without it, including sleep/wake problems.

BIOS not seeing your M.2 drive should have nothing to do with any of the EFI folders. This could be a sign of hardware failure. Try clearing CMOS and redoing BIOS settings manually to see if it helps. Remember to unplug the power cable when clearing CMOS.

Try going to System Preferences > Energy Saver and disable Power Nap and Wake for network access.

I will.

Also the USB is acting up. The USB is not responding after sleep (non of the ports). I need to "button reset/restart" the computer, and then the USB works again. But after sleep, it does not. I've newer encountered that before :-/

I've attached the EFI folder. It should be a true copy of yours except from the Broadcom fix kext.

I just updated all the kexts (Lilu, "WG", etc.) via Clover.

Apply one of the proper USB fixes instead of using KextsToPatches to address the 15 port limit.
