pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Making progress - I made a Mojave installer with UniBeast, swapped the EFI folders and started up to the USB. I got the Apple! But it hangs about 2/3 of the way. I don't see a kernel panic but this is as far as it gets. "Forcing CS_RUNTIME for entitlement ..."

You are getting the gIOScreenLockState 3 error. You have two options:

Disable IGPU in BIOS until installation is done, then edit config.plist.
Edit config.plist now then finish macOS installation.

In both cases, you need to add the following to config.plist:

I've been having this system crash every 3 to 4 days, and I can't figure it out. I could be just browsing the web and the system will just reboot. I could also be away from my commuter with the display asleep but on my return, I saw the system had restarted itself. All crashes appear to be similar.

I've pasted the relevents parts of my sys log. it looks like it's AMD driver based.

Just wondering if anyone else has seen this.

my config.sys and clover directory is based on the most recent versions I downloaded here.

Only difference would be my vgtab and the fact that I'm run a Dell 5K up2715k.

It definitely looks like it's related to the video card. Are you using two DisplayPort cables to drive the 5K monitor?

You can try removing the VGTab kext to see if it still crashes.

Yes, I'm using 2 display port cables, it's amazing it used to be such a pain with Nvidia, the 2 sides of the screen would not sync, etc.. it now just works... From my google searches I've seen some real Mac's get this error also. Will keep on searching, if I do find a resolution I will post it. Thanks

Yes, I did and it works fine. I only speculated it might be because of the 5K screen, because that's about the only difference between my build and pastrychefs' build. I heard that the current beta of 10.14.5 fixes most of the bugs with Vega 56 and 64, fans speeds, etc... I will wait an see what happens with that release

Hi PastryChef, Thanks for your incredible support on this forum and this build. I can still get a a Rog Strix Z370-G. I am planning an i7-8700 and thinking I don't need the latest GPU- so maybe a 580 GPU. Based on your experience, is there anything I should do differently (for performance or MACOS compatibility issues?)

If you can still get a Strix Z370-G, I say grab it quick. I recently picked up a Gigabyte Z390 motherboard to play with and it's nowhere near as macOS friendly.

The RX 580 is a fine video card. I used one for a build for a friend and haven't had a single complaint from her.

The only thing I can think of for better macOS compatibility is to pick up an Apple branded Wi-Fi card. If you can find the Strix Z370-G Wi-Fi, you can swap out the included Wi-Fi card with an Apple Wi-Fi card with adaptor and Bluetooth keyboards and mice should work even for BIOS. If you can only find the non-Wi-Fi version of this motherboard, you will have to use a PCI-e card and I don't know if Bluetooth keyboards and mice will work in BIOS with it.

You are getting the gIOScreenLockState 3 error. You have two options:

Disable IGPU in BIOS until installation is done, then edit config.plist.
Edit config.plist now then finish macOS installation.

In both cases, you need to add the following to config.plist:
I have the EFI mounted, but I don't have a good way to edit it, what is the software in your screenshot? I downloaded plistedit pro, but it is basically just a text editor. Unable at the moment to access my apple id to download xcode, stumped again. In a text editor, where would the new device settings go?

I just disabled iGPU and tried again to run the installer, thinking i can do it after. But I got another gIOScreenLockState error.
