pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Great I fixed my problem of my 580 GPU fans going crazy high speed when reaching 58 degrees Celsius.
I leveraged that post downloading HWSensors3 and adding the relevant kexts.

The fans of the GPU kick in at 58 but slowly and not full speed.

It would have driven me crazy otherwise.

A bit too quick at considering this solved. I have the same problem after sleep - sigh :(

Thank you - I am actually following this thread. As it fails only after sleep

Try a different Vbios? I been using a Saphire Vega 56 Nitro+ on a MSI reference Vega 56 for about 2 months. Other then the extra 10c that I see at idle when the fan is off it appears to runs the same and the extra 10c is acceptable. @ about 58 the fan kicks on and runs at 1500 RPM.

These are the values listed in the AppleALC supported codecs page.

I have not had any issues with audio and/or sleep with 10.14.4.

Please try to update to the latest Lilu/AppleALC/WhateverGreen. They are located in /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other/. The latest AppleALC does have a fix for some sleep situations.
As mysteriously as this problem appeared, it has now disappeared. Obviously something changed -- computers don't have free will ;) -- but darned if I can identify it. At least it's working again.

Story time...

I've been seeing quite a few Z390 users with weird, inconsistent problems and solutions that work for one user may not work for another user with the same motherboard. So, I wanted to try and experience this myself. (I know... I'm a glutton for punishment...)

I had some free time and decided to pick up a Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming motherboard to play with. Replacing my current motherboard was fairly quick considering all the components and screws. I also took the opportunity to thoroughly clean out about a year and a half's worth of dust and filth that had gathered inside.

Anyway, here's what I learned:
  • I could not get macOS to boot using AptioMemoryFix.
  • I did get macOS to boot using OsxAptioFix2Drv and EmuVariableUefi.
  • Having different PCI-e cards can cause failure to boot!! I had the system booting perfectly fine, then added my 10GBase-T card and BOOM, Aptio error!! I have swapped many cards in and out of my Asus motherboard and never saw this happen.
  • CSM MUST be enabled on the Gigabyte or it will get an Aptio error.
  • A standard DW1830 M.2 Wi-Fi/Bluetooth card will not work in the Gigabyte motherboard's CNVi slot. Not even the Bluetooth card is seen.
  • The 10+2 phase VRM of the Gigabyte motherboard is a poorer overclocker than this Z370 motherboard which only has 4+2 phases. The Gigabyte would freeze within minutes of running Prime95 on 5GHz with the same voltage I've been using on this motherboard.
  • Compared to the Asus BIOS, the Gigabyte BIOS SUCKS!!! Lots of things just didn't make sense. If for some reason you need to do a force shutdown, the Gigabyte BIOS has a tendency to reset everything back to default wasting a great deal of time. Boot times were also strangely inconsistent.
I spent approx 12 hours messing around with that Gigabyte motherboard before calling it a day and put back my Z370-G. If my first hackintosh experience had been with the Gigabyte, I may be typing on a real Mac right now. Absolutely horrible experience. Many random anomalies that could not be reproduced. My $63 clunker Dell is a million times better.

All of this really makes me appreciate how well this Asus motherboard runs macOS.

What do you mean, that DW1820 does not work in CNVi slot?
I am currently waiting for a DW1820A to mount it in the slot of my Maximus XI Hero (WiFI).

Other users of motherboards with integrated WiFI have already used wifi/bluetooth combo cards, in their M.2 slots of integrated wifi and have been successful.

I hope my DW1820A arrives soon to do the tests, for that reason I bought my Maximus XI Hero with integrated WiFi, to replace it with a Card Combo natively compatible with macOS.

Exactly what I said. It didn't work at all. No card detected. I didn't test an Asus Z390 so I don't know if it will work but it definitely didn't work in the Gigabyte Z390. I tested the DW1830, not DW1820A.

The same DW1830 shows up right away on my Asus Z370.

Did not you try if windows 10 detected the card?
