pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

@pastrychef I've found /EFI and some clover related things inside, so I've deleted it, leaving /EFI untouched. Unfortunately, it didn't change a thing, the machine still doesn't boot from it's own SSD.

I suspect that you did a legacy install of Clover. I don't have any experience with legacy installations and don't know how to undo it.

Boot in verbose and try to see what's giving you your trouble and it definitely sounds like you need a larger SSD.

I booted into Verbose and it just says attempting system reboot.

Here are some photos and a video of the output:

The SSD size shouldn't be an issue. My files barely add up to 100GB and the only issue is that the System is taking up too much space. I do have a few extra SSDs so if I need to add space, I can always use one of those for my files.

Edit: Will not boot at all anymore. Not with the USB, not with any boot flags. Just restarts after giving tons of thread data, as seen in the video. I would highly appreciate it if somebody could help me fix this as reinstalling would be a major hassle and I would lose all of my applications and some precious files in the process.

It says "Unable to open /var/db/BootCache.playlist: 2 no such file or directory"

Here are the best solutions I found:

Try the iFixit solution first. It is easier.

How do I try these solutions when I can't boot. Currently, I just can't get it to boot, no boot flags will work, and booting from the Install Disk with your latest EFI doesn't work either.

This is not an EFI issue. The issue is with macOS.

I thought you were able to boot in to safe mode... If not, can you pull the drive and connect it to another Mac/hack and try the above fixes?

KingKPS, do you get the same results when you boot from your USB installation thumb drive into your installed drive? If booting from the USB installer thumb drive works, you an use Post #2016's procedures.

I was able to boot into safe mode with the USB, but now it’s not booting with that or with any other configuration. Pulling the drive is a bit difficult since it’s an M.2 and I don’t have a reader for that. I’m currently installing Windows on another SSD and will see if I can do something through it.

Why don't you just install macOS on the second SSD? It's unlikely that you will be able to do anything to APFS in Windows.

Well, as it turns out, the dumb installer installed Windows on my MacOS drive, even though I selected my other SSD. Luckily, I had a time machine backup from yesterday that has all of my important files. I guess I’ll just be reinstalling MacOS.
