I checked this out.
The version being offered is *still* the February 2023 release. Nothing new. It obviously simply checks MS servers and no-longer requires a purchase to use BUT it does need you to log in to your MS account.
The US app store doesn't mention activation, but the UK one still does.
What is more, the article and App Store shows the app as 974MB, however when downloaded it expands to 2.12GB !!! A massive app for just an email one.
