Some may not be familiar with Hackintosh-speak. :mrgreen: Here's a quick run down of some popular things you may see on the forum and may make you go hmmm. Feel free to add your own- this is a work in progress.

/E/E Refers to the /Extra/Extensions folder on your Snow Leopard drive.

S/L/E Refers to the /System/Library/Extensions folder on your Snow Leopard drive.

OOB - (Out Of the Box) - Abbreviation meaning hardware works without any special tweaks.

SL - Snow Leopard
HDA - High-Definition Audio
ge=y - GraphicsEnabler=Yes
H55 - Intel's motherboard architecture for lower-end CPUs (i3/i5)
P55 - Intel's motherboard architecture for socket 1156 CPUs (i3/i5/i7-8XX)
X58 - Intel's motherboard architecture for socket 1366 CPUs (i7-9XX)
LGA 775 - The old Intel socket, discontinued. Used for Core 2 Duo/Core 2 Quad CPUs
Fermi - Nvidia GTX 4XX series
Evergreen - ATI Radeon HD 5XXX series
MB - Some forum-users' shortening for Multibeast (be careful, can also stand for motherboard)
FW - Firewire
Kext - Similar to a Windows driver. This helps OS X recognize a computer's hardware.
DSDT - Differentiated System Description Table, provides the configuration information of a system.
ACPI - Advanced Configuration and Power Interface, helps with OS configuration, power management, and thermal management.
OC - Overclock
OHCI - Open Host Controller Interface, allows system access to Firewire/USB ports
CMOS - Complementary Metal Oxide Semi-conductor, a type of circuitry design
BIOS - Basic Input/Output System, initializes and identifies system components
x86 - 32-bit operating system
x64 - 64-bit operating system

I think that about covers it.. By the way Tonymac, you should probably put this in a more active location so people actually see it ;)

Hi you said that H55 "Intel's motherboard architecture for lower-end CPUs (i3/i5)", it can run i7 8xx also since it's 1156 socket. Am I wrong?
