Do you have a lot of hard drives (internal and external) usb devices etc?

All HDD's:

1. Windows SSD
2. System reserved partition. (windows)
2. OS X Lion HDD
3. OS X Mountain Lion HDD

try only having your system drive plugged in, and unplugging everything except keyboard and mouse. Try shutting down, is it faster?

I have 1 external hard drive in particular that makes my shutdowns hang for a while, if I eject it before shutdown it doesn't.

Just a thought

With all hdd's unplugged except the one from OS X,
it boots and shuts down more quickly.
So... what could be the cause of it?

Well, someone else may need to come in here and give a nice answer (perhaps Gordo :D )
But I believe it's just going through and makin it's rounds and ejecting everything before the shutdown which takes time. I have a lot of stuff connected to my machine and it does take a lil bit to shut down, but it does.

Yeah, that is it. It's waiting for all the disks to unmount successfully.

Allright... but where do all those errors come from?
And is there a way to make the shutdown faster?

Well it all referenced to "windows" its probably reading a language from that windows drive that isn't native to mac. Try just unplugging the windows drive, is it still shutting down faster?

@subaro0o will do.
