Today Apple released 10.9.4, the fourth major update to OS X Mavericks. Update any supported system using the built-in Software Update functionality through the Mac App Store, or by using the standalone installer available from Apple.com.

Be sure to back up any important data, and if possible clone your hard drive before applying the update. If you have any issues post-update, boot using UniBeast and type UseKernelCache=No.

What we know about 10.9.4 so far...

  • OS X Build 13E28
  • 13.3.0 Darwin kernel
  • Updated Intel, NVIDIA, and AMD graphics drivers
  • This update will replace your audio drivers.
    • You will have to reinstall AppleHDA using MultiBeast before or after reboot
    • If you use VoodooHDA, you will not need to make any modifications
  • Storage drivers updated - SSD TRIM patch will not work with 10.9.3 patch. Fix will be available in the next MultiBeast.
  • 9 Series Chipset support still absent - quick fixes for Audio and Intel HD 4600 remain necessary.
  • Install OS X Mavericks App Updated - If you downloaded Mavericks from the App Store prior to today, and you want to have the latest version on your backup installer USB, simply log into the Mac App Store and click Download. When the download finishes, the app will automatically open. The updated 10.9.4 Install OS X Mavericks App can be found in the Applications folder. You may then re-create your UniBeast installation USB.
Testing is now underway- this post will be updated. Good luck, and let us know how it goes! Report your results here.

Here's the step by step way to update:
:ch: Repair Permissions using the Disk Utility on the drive to be updated;*
:ch: Backup your current installation using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper;
:ch: Download the latest MultiBeast for Mavericks which has the latest ACL8xy audio drivers**;
:ch: Download the Combo Update and run the Combo Update to update to 10.9.4;
:ch: Re-boot;
:ch: Run MultiBeast for Mavericks and just select your audio driver to install (TRIM patch is not yet available)***;
:ch: Re-boot; and
:ch: Repair Permissions again.*

If you have TRIM enabled, check to see if it was affected by this update.

* You can use the Terminal instead of Disk Utility if you feel comfortable with a UNIX command:
Code:
 sudo diskutil repairPermissions /

**Important: If you've used a MultiBeast version previous to MulitBeast version 6.3 and updated to 10.9.4, you should do a complete MultiBeast configuration "load" using your previously saved ".mb" file. MultiBeast 6.3 changes how audio is done and needs Chimera v3+ to run correctly.

***MultiBeast v6.40 has the new TRIM patch for 10.9.4. Other methods for enabling TRIM can be found with these utilities/procedures:
- TRIM Enabler program successfully enabled TRIM in 10.9.4. TRIM Enabler is free; the Pro version costs $10 USD;
- https://gist.github.com/slagdang/4485183 and

Where are all the other comments?

Everything OK after restart except trim support.
Multibeast one doesn't work as told.
Chameleon SSD Optimizer did the trick on my Z77N wifi.
Although it is a beta but at least it works.
See the last part of Post #2 on how to get TRIM in 10.9.4.

Update went smooth to 10.9.4 but soon after notice temps rising quickly when idling. I've never manually adjusted either thru bios or HWMonitor any fan speeds, but warnings started popping up approaching 170°F i started to freak out a little. Pulled off the case and noticed my Push-Pull fans on my cooler barely spinning.

Did a restart fans turning normally - within seconds of logging in watched them slow down again.
Went into HWMonitor settings and enabled the fan control and maxed out the cpu fans. Seems to be holding steady now.

This may seem like such a newbie issue (which i'll admit I am) but after 7 months relatively worry-free this was shocking and alarming. Just a heads up to those who may go thru the same thing.

I'm lost here. I know that my previous installs have used an earlier version of Multibeast but I cannot find any .mb file anywhere on the system. Where would I find it or how would I create one? Also, is there an easy way to tell which version of Multibeast was used most recently (if that matters)?
