Today Apple released 10.9.2, the second major update to OS X Mavericks. Update any supported system using the built-in Software Update functionality through the Mac App Store, or by using the standalone installer available from Apple.com.

Be sure to back up any important data, and if possible clone your hard drive before applying the update. If you have any issues post-update, boot using UniBeast and type UseKernelCache=No.

What we know about 10.9.2 so far...

  • OS X Build 13C64
  • 13.1.0 Darwin kernel
  • Security and stability patches, including fix for "gotofail" SSL exploit - screenshot
  • Mac Pro 6,1 system definition and support files
  • Initial Ivy Bridge E/EP CPU support
  • Initial, but incomplete X79/C606 Chipset support
  • Updated Intel, NVIDIA, and AMD graphics drivers
    • If you use patched or modified drivers, you will need to re-apply changes to the updated drivers.
  • This update will replace your audio drivers.
    • You will have to reinstall AppleHDA using MultiBeast before or after reboot
    • If you use VoodooHDA, you will not need to make any modifications
  • Storage drivers updated - TRIM patch will need to be reapplied before or after reboot.

Article: OS X 10.9.2 Update

Here's the step by step way to update:
:ch: Repair Permissions using the Disk Utility on the drive to be updated;*
:ch: Backup your current installation using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper;
:ch: Use the Software Update to download and install 10.9.2 (recommend using the Combo Update);
:ch: Re-boot;
:ch: Run MultiBeast for Mavericks and just select your audio driver to install and TRIM (if needed);
:ch: Re-boot; and
:ch: Repair Permissions again.*

If you have TRIM enabled, check to see if it was affected by this update.

* You can use the Terminal instead of Disk Utility if you feel comfortable with a UNIX command:
Code:
sudo diskutil repairPermissions /

There we go! Updating!

Curious about whether the updated drivers include support got Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 Ti ... will post when the update is complete and let you guys know.

Tonymac, what is meant by "incomplete" X79/C606 support? As well as "initial" (if anything other than the obvious first attempt)?
