The Marvell Sata ports no longer worked after the update on my X79 UP4, put all drives on the intel ports and got 8.5 to boot but
no Audio and Network,

Tried removing the ncpi=3000 flag but I just get black screens

You are the first person to have the same issue as me! I have an X79 UP4 too. Thank God you posted!

I have gotten networking to work again by setting UseKernelCache to No. I don't know why. It just seems to load Ethernet extensions again. OR it might be setting "EthernetBuiltIn" to "no" i did both at the same time, I can't tell which one worked. I'm just leaving it because my system still boots super fast.

I cannot get the Marvell SATA to work no matter what though. I've tried reinstalling the drivers a million times, I've tried removing npci flag as well, won't boot. What else, I did the combo update... I tried going back to an old set of extensions but it wouldn't boot (a good set I had saved), replacing just specific extensions had no effect. Tried doing the easy install from Multibeast... A few other things I can't remember. I have fiddled with BIOS, they all show in BIOS AND I can even boot from one of the drives on the Marvell controllers! But once booted into 10.8.5 on my SSD they won't show. I have 4 hard drives connected to these ports so I'm really struggling haha! I just have run out of ideas.

Can anyone point us in the right direction?

By the way, I haven't been able to get audio to work anyway, so I can't help on that - I use USB audio.

timmillea,
Use the latest UniBeast (v2.1) which incorporates the latest versions:

Updated GenericUSBXHCI to v1.2.5
Updated AppleIntelE1000e to v2.5.4c
Updated AHCI_3rdParty_SATA to v0.4

Hi there - this might help my problem with Marvell controllers no longer working - but how do I get the updated AHCI_3rdParty_SATA v0.4 but how do I get it out of UniBeast 2.1? I assume this is newer than the one in current Multibeast? (yep just checked, that's v0.3)

Let me know please I'd really appreciate it!

:)

followed stork steps and i had only to enable trim support again as one editional step.
The only Problem left is that my systems seems to run about 5°C warmer.

The CPU fan spins up full power for a few seconds and turns back down again. Never did this before.
Any help om this

MY Board is a GA-Z77X-UD5H

Why did you do #2?

BTW, are both your Z68X systems identically configured? If not, please put the two system's mobo/processor/graphics in your signature block. By doing that, you help us help you better.

Well, don't know the reason but my z86 system does not work with 10.8.5 release if npci=0x3000 exits. Both Audio and internal Ethernet are disabled. Fortunately my system boots without npci entry.

no problems here just had to re install sound as usual .......

Hey all, I have tried everything on my GA-X79S-UP5 mobo and cannot get audio... Any suggestions? I have tried multibeast version 5.4.3 as well as the older lion version 4.7.0 that I originally used to get it working. Everything else appears to be working... I got a few projects I need to finish and I need audio to edit them :(

I think the next MultiBeast is due out on Friday with updated drivers. Sorry about the wait, but 10.8.5 held some surprises for us.

Thanks for the reply.

Here's what I have done since that post...

I had to do that Apple installer update and then had success getting a USB installer with Unibeast 2.0.2. I tried all kinds of flags once I booted with the USB Thumb drive but nothing worked. I re-did the thumb drive and checked the legacy USB stuff but it still wouldn't work.

Ok, I got the new Unibeast 2.1 and re-did the USB Thumb drive with the legacy USB stuff checked. Tried a bunch of times with different boot flags e.g. PCIRootUID, etc, still nothing worked. What happens is the AppleUSBEHCI message keeps coming up during boot time and won't let me get past that.

The thing is, this GA-Z77X-UD5H motherboard shouldn't be that difficult since I have seen a lot of other users have success with the same board. I have one 8GB stick of memory in slot 1. I checked the sata connections and disabled the higher speed slots. I do not have any graphics card, I am using the on board HD4000. I have a keyboard with a mouse plugged into it in one of the USB2 slots on the back panel, I have the 8GB thumb drive in the other USB2 slot.

I have run out of things to try, maybe I have some BIOS settings wrong but I need someone who knows more than I do at this point. If any of you have an idea for me to try out, please let me know.

Thanks

Hi all.
I have a very rare problem, I have 2 internal disks one 3Tb and one 1 Tb, bothwith mountain lion (10.8.4); I installed 10.8.5 combo update in the 1 Tb disk first and all work fine, then I installed in the 3 Tb disk, when I rebooted there is the error "error parsing plist file" and the 3 td disk doesn't display.
Then boot from an USB external disk and the 3tb disk displays, but the error "error parsing plist file" is still there, but when I select first the 3 tb disk to boot (it can't) and then the 1 tb disk to boot, the system boot from the 3 tb disk and all works fine.
So, I must to boot from an external USB disk, then select the 1 tb disk and finally the 3 tb file.
Any ideas?
Tanks to all
