Article: OS X 10.8.4 Update

Updated my two systems through AppStore today without any issues, only Audio for ALC889 had to be replaced with Multibeast. NVIDIA GTX650Ti is now properly recognised. TRIM support remained from earlier patch.

Installation fails whether I use App Store or the combo updater. When I open the DMG for the combo update, it cancels mounting with an 'invalid checksum'. If I skip verification it mounts fine, but the installer fails. Any ideas what's up?

I'm having the same problems I had with 10.8.3 will not boot. (always have a clone drive so back to 10.8.2 for now).
Gigabyte GA-Z77-N-WiFi, i5 3570K, Crucial M4 512gb SSD, 16gb DDR3 ram, onboard graphics, Prodigy Case.
Tried the combo, maybe I'm missing something, if someone can point me to the correct guid that would be great.
Cheers, Alan.

I had that mobo, ssd combo and had issues too. I switched to a Sandisk ssd and the ga-q77m-d2h (and case)and the whole thing works a lot better. I remember every time I'd change the bios everything would go to hell. Where is yours getting hung up at boot?

Updated from the App Store, on an Intel DG33FB, nVidia GTS 250, 8 Gig RAM, Logitech G930 wireless headphones.
I disable the onboard audio in the BIOS, and just use the headphones, which it supports out of the box. (except for no surround, boo)

Runs great, and my dad's happy with it.

Works well here GS-Z77-DS3H using HD4000.

MSI Z77A-G45.
combo updater. All is well after one safe boot to reinstall AppleACPIPlatform.kext, AppleHDA.kext and HDAEnabler1.kext with KextBeast and then used TrimEnabler to turn on Trim.

I notice you have a TP LINK TL-WN781ND whereas MacProClub has a TP-Link WN881ND so device IDs would be different.

Also after editing 'Info.plist' of AirPortAtheros40.kext inside IO80211Family.kext (from 10.8.4), did you reinstall the patched IO80211Family.kext into /System/Library/Extensions, repair permissions and rebuild system kext caches?
Yes Sir, i did so! I inserted my device's ID in both IO80211Family.kext AND IO80211Family9285.kext as described in the procedures and at exact subfolders and plist files. Deleted the old kexts from S/L/E, installed the new ones using the Kext Utility, repaired permissions, rebuilt caches and rebooted the machine but to no avail.

Updated from Appstore on GA-Z77X-UPH5, GTX670 2GB, i3570K

Everything went smooth, only had to re-install the audio codec.

What I do notice is that I only have 2 CPU speeds: 16 and 34. The CPU does not step up to 42 anymore. Anybody know why this might be?

Thanks in advance

Edit: speedstep does work after sleep...

What version of IO80211Family.kext did you use as the base for the device id injection (right click file in finder and get info)? It needs to be ver 5.3 to be compatible with the new airportd file in 10.8.4 (hidden file in /usr/libexec folder size 332kB, date created 2 May 2013)

In 10.8.3, I had ver 5.2.2 of IO80211Family.kext with corresponding earlier version of airportd (size 324kB, date created 4 Feb 2013). This was upgraded to ver 5.3 after the combo 10.8.4 update.

If you use a version of IO80211Family.kext earlier than 5.3, you need to use the older version of the airportd file as described by "brielle" here https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4154491?start=75&tstart=0 , otherwise you lose ability to connect to wifi without disabling security (see comments by "Gunny Sack" and "MacMunfordGB" and don't forget to repair permissions, clear caches and reboot).

I have the TL-WN881ND and added device ID "168c, 30a4" into 'Info.plist' inside IO80211Family.kext / Contents / Plugins / AirPortAtheros40.kext. For the TL-WN781ND, according to http://wikidevi.com/wiki/TP-LINK_TL-WN781ND_v1, the device ID is 168c, 30a1. For TL-WN781ND ver2, it is apparently 168c, 3118 http://wikidevi.com/wiki/TP-LINK_TL-WN781ND_v2

Edit: Looks like someone has already done the edits for your card with IO80211Family.kext ver 5.3 http://www.osx86.net/view/3913-10.8.4_12e55_io80211_family_ar9285.html. He uses device ID 168c, 2b (TL-WN781ND ver1)
