Second try. Now it works with the new Nvidia WebDriver-346.03.15f02. Only the chance in AppleGraphicsControl.kext, about my iMac15,1 SMbios. Trim, Sound, Network, everything work same before.
I too had better luck on the second try. Had to restore to 10.11.5 then upgraded to 10.11.6 then voila.

Just update from .4 to .6 via MAS. I installed the web driver linked in the other thread but it broke my boot which I fixed using disable=1.

GPU is GTX 970

I have the same issue with my GTX 950. Installed the new Nvidia web drivers but get a black screen trying to use them. Have to disable in Clover to avoid this, but now no decent graphics...

Anyone have a fix?

EDIT: Solved for me. See below.

(SOLVED) I was going to revert back to 10.11.4. I booted from my USB installer. Restarted and booted from my recovery partition. Then I booted from the main volume with 10.11.6 and it booted into 10.11.6 with no issues at all. Graphics working as expected. Everything working as expected now. (I'm not sure exactly why that would work, but it did).

So anyone having the black screen issue after installing the new NVIDIA web drivers and setting your boot flag to nvda_drv=1, try:

1. boot from your USB install disk
2. restart and boot from your recovery partition.
3. restart and boot from 10.11.6 volume

Updated using App Store. It went smoothly, no issues to report after a couple days of use. See my build link below for the exact steps taken for my Skylake rig.

Updated with combo update, went smoothly: no issues.

I fear that the latest updates of os x , are just to keep us busy and waste time and break down the hackintosh , I do not see them any significant advantage

Many security updates (many open source) are included, plus some other stuff that might be important to some:

Safari 9.2

I manage a dev team for an enterprise product line. Customer's call and report real issues that they expect fixes for in a timely manner. And, with open source that is embedded in your products, you have an obligation to provide security fixes. I'm sure the dev team at Apple would rather be working on Sierra and making the company $$$ than putting out changes for El Capitan that could, in turn, raise other issues. It's a necessary, but vicious cycle for those that work in the software business, trust me! The security patches are worth the effort to stay current unless your PC is disconnected and offline all the time (not likely).
