Try booting from a USB stick with clover installed. select your HDD. Sounds like your installer stalled, this should allow it to finish. had the same issues, and my setup is near identical to yours.

well, it wasn't so painless an update for me (multibeast/chimera..)

I mistakenly didn't read up before updating and suffered the consequences of an outdated bootloader, was stuck in yosemite without graphics support for my card, so everything was slooooow and ugly, but I read up on switching to clover, and decided to give it a go despite having nothing but problems trying to get clover to work when I initially built my hack last year around this time.

I must say, the clover/El Capitan guide was terrific, and while it was nerve-wrecking to start with a fresh install and kiss away a previously marvelous hack build, I think it will benefit in the longterm. I have a few issues to iron out, USB port issues and noticeably lower performance scores in benchmark tests, but my system is up and running. Total Clover noob, from what I've gathered it seems most those issues will be solved with some DSDT tuning, which is like an alien language to me right now, but I'm sure with the resources here and little patience it'll come together...

Now I just need a little time to iron those aforementioned issues out and update my build thread (something I've been wanting to do for months but work just hasn't allotted me time for)!

Thanks to everyone in the community!

I just recently went from Chimera/Yosemite to Clover/El Capitan. I also had to go through a steep DSDT learning curve to get USB 3.0 and sleep/wake working. The update to 10.11.1 from the App Store worked great.

Overall, I am far happier with my system under Clover. It is more stable and feels so much more like a real Mac for me.

Great work with the guide, got only one small correction...
In the nVidia section you always tell the "Maxwell" users to use the nv_disable=1 argument, specifying that Maxwell GPUs are GeForce GTX 750, 750 Ti, 950, 960, 970, 980, 980 Ti, or TITAN X, but you keep forgetting about my graphic card, the GTX 780 Ti, that has the same problem/solution (it's the same for the GTX 780). I think you should add it to the description because it took me a week to find the problem the first time i created an Hackintosh.

  • This update will replace your audio drivers. If you use CloverALC for Realtek onboard audio, no changes may be necessary.
This is incredibly poor grammar, and rather ambiguous. I apologise if English isn't your first language, but it is mine, and it's confusing.

Maybe consider editing it?

Many thanks :)

Huh?

I understood it perfectly.
What is so confusing about "This update will replace your audio drivers." ?. In english, this means that "this update will replace your audio drivers".

What is so confusing about "If you use CloverALC for Realtek onboard audio, no changes may be necessary." ?. In English, this means that "if you use CloverALC for Realtek onboard audio, no changes may be necessary".

In other words, "This update (10.11.1) will replace your audio drivers. If you use the CloverALC command (well documented everywhere) for patching your Realtek onboard audio, then you may not have to worry about the fact that this update replaces your audio drivers as CloverALC patch takes care of it.

No need to be pedantic.
