Today Apple released 10.10.4, the fourth major update to OS X Yosemite. Update any supported system using the built-in Software Update functionality through the Mac App Store, or by using the standalone installer available from Apple.com.

Be sure to back up any important data, and if possible clone your hard drive before applying the update. If you have any issues post-update, boot using UniBeast created USB and type -f to boot without caches or -x to enter safe mode.

What we know about 10.10.4 so far...

  • OS X Build 14E46
  • Kernel updated to 14.4.0 Darwin kernel
  • Updated Intel, NVIDIA, and AMD graphics drivers
  • This update will replace your audio drivers.
    • If using Chimera/MultiBeast you will have to reinstall AppleHDA using MultiBeast before or after reboot
    • If you use Clover or VoodooHDA, you may not need to make any modifications
  • Storage drivers updated
    • Core OS X command for 3rd party SSDs is now available.
    • In order to patch for TRIM support, type 'sudo trimforce enable' in Terminal and reboot (step by step)
  • X99 kernel and chipset support still absent - Haswell-E and X99 temporary guide remains necessary.
  • Install OS X Yosemite App Updated - If you downloaded Yosemite from the App Store prior to today, and you want to have the latest version on your backup installer USB, simply log into the Mac App Store and click Download. When the download finishes, the app will automatically open. The updated 10.10.4 Install OS X Yosemite App can be found in the Applications folder. You may then re-create your UniBeast installation USB.

Testing is now underway- this post will be updated. Good luck, and let us know how it goes! Report your results here.

10.10.4 Update [DRAFT]

Notes:
- This may break some of your Yosemite functions, like audio, TRIM and the nVidia Web drivers. So, being an Early Adopter is fraught with problems. Make sure you backup first. :thumbup:

- If you're using nVidia drivers for your GeForce GTX 750, 750Ti, 960, 970, 980 and the Titans 'Maxwell' graphics cards, you'll need to install the nVidia 10.10.4 Web driver(s) after the 10.10.4 update. You are advised to wait for nVidia's update or use the nVidia Yosemite Beta Web drivers. tonymacx86 will publish the link to the nVidia Web Driver as soon as it's announced. See threads in the http://www.tonymacx86.com/graphics/ or here if you have one of these Maxwell graphics cards, such as: GTX 750, 750Ti, 960, 970, 980 or Titan graphics cards.

Here's the step by step way to update for those who aren't using the nVidia Maxwell graphics cards :
:ch: Repair Permissions using the Disk Utility on the drive to be updated;*
:ch: Backup your current installation using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper;
:ch: Download the latest MultiBeast for Yosemite;
:ch: Download the Software Update or the Combo Update and run it to update to 10.10.4;
:ch: Re-boot;
:ch: Run MultiBeast for Yosemite and just select your audio driver to install and, optionally, the 10.10.x TRIM patch or use the newly added "trimforce" Terminal command**;
:ch: Re-boot; and
:ch: Repair Permissions again.*

Tip: Don't use the iMac15,1 and Mac Pro 4,1/5.1/6.1 System Definitions. These SysDefs have been found to cause problems. For Haswell builds, toleda recommends iMac 14,1 for HD4600 and iMac14,2 for graphics cards; MacPro6,1 is only appropriate for X99 systems.

* You can use the Terminal instead of Disk Utility if you feel comfortable with a UNIX command:
Code:
 sudo diskutil repairPermissions /

**Use the new Terminal trimforce command in the following manner:
Code:
sudo trimforce enable

All done, no problems just audio to reinstall as usual.

This update doesn't just disable Trim Enable app it removes it.

But now you can use Trimforce Enable in terminal to use Apples own Trim command. Run as root.

Lol Tony beat me to it.

Working great for me using the Beta 10.10.4 NVIDIA Web Drivers on my 980 Ti.

Just the usual ALC 1150 audio reinstall real quick and all good!
