My brother and I have spent the last week rebuilding & repurposing all of our CustoMacs. We now have four new, clean 10.8.4 installs with everything working but the DVD/Blu-Ray readers. The machines are all different builds (e.g. mobos, procs, video cards) and different optical drives. But, all of the optical drives are known good devices for hackintoshes and worked fine under our Lion installations.
Here is the behavior:
1) Optical Drives all show up as the correct device in the System Report.
2) When discs are inserted, they show up on the desktop and are labeled appropriately (ie. Star Wars, Mission Impossible, etc.)
3) Attempts to play the DVD or Blu-Ray with the DVD Player throw the same error, which says the disc is unrecognized.
Different machines. Different drives. Same problem under 10.8.4. This leads me to believe we are missing a kext or something like that.
Can anyone offer a solution?
Thanks,
KM
