Official CustoMac Mini 2012 Guide and Notes (in progress)

mz123- thank you very much for this insight! - I turned vt-d off and it looks like it is booting properly.

Not really sure what is the difference, will try and look into this.

Thanks again for this gem.:thumbup:

you're welcome and I'm glad it helped, but all credit go to hussar, I was just the messenger :)

hi guys,

I´d be thankful if you could help me out on my usb 3 issues I´m having with my h77n. Neither onboard nor front panel usb 3 wants to work properly. Every thumb drive I´ve been trying is not recognised and don´t show up in ML. Multibeast says that the 3rd party usb support is not for LGA 1155 but ours is not. and last but not least the option (3rd party support) is not ticked in the guide. I´m stuck :(

my specs:

h77n
bitfenix prodigy
gtx 680
256 m4 ssd (downgraded firmware)
i7-3770k

TIA!

edit: I was forced to tick GraphicsEnabler=No in boot options as to white screen issues

I have an H77N with a i3-3205 Processor and a EVGA GT640. I am trying to do a clean install with a USB installer created with the latest Unibeast and latest 10.8.2. No matter what I do I can't get to the installer screen period.

I had this machine running perfect before with an H67N logic board and only upgraded the logic board to the H77N. If I use the SSD drive I had with the H67N MB the system will boot right up using onboard graphics and the H77N MB, however as soon as I try to boot with the EVGA GT640 it will never boot. I have tried all and any of the recommended boot flags. This is supposed to be an OOB card. I have nothing but bad luck trying to use Nvidia cards.

Can anyone shed any light on how I can do a clean install using the EVGA GT640 graphics card? I have removed the H77N WiFi card thinking that might be the problem. It seems there is something either different with the latest 10.8.2 or the latest Unibeast/Chimera.

Great, turning vt-d off fixed my boot problem, too. :D

Hi Tony/Hackintoshers,
Thanks for putting together the list of components - I decided to go with:
* Intel Core i3-3225
* Gigabyte H77N-WIFI
* Kingston 16GB DDR3 1600MHz HyperX Blu Red Series
* Macbook Pro AirPort Extreme Broadcom BCM43 in PCI adapter - pulled from my last project.

I think this is what your build is based on, except for the WIFI. I created a USB disk based on 10.8.2 using 'UniBeast - Mountain Lion 1.5.3' i had to boot with '-x -v' to get to the installation, and again post installation to install 'MultiBeast - Mountain Lion 5.1.2' - I ran this with both 'UserDSDT or DSDT-Free' and 'ALC892' (without DSDT). (Audio working).
I cannot get my native screen resolution to work (2048 x 1152). In 'system report' my graphics are reported as:

Intel HD Graphics 2500:

Chipset Model: Intel HD Graphics 2500
Type: GPU
Bus: Built-In
VRAM (Total): 64 MB of Shared System Memory
Vendor: Intel (0x8086)
Device ID: 0x0152
Revision ID: 0x0009
Kernel Extension Info: No Kext Loaded
Displays:
Display:
Resolution: 1024 x 768
Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)
Main Display: Yes
Mirror: Off
Online: Yes

I wonder if you had any issues like this?

Thanks, I really appreciate it - James

UPDATE:
Added:
<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>2048x1152x32</string>
Now running at native resolution.
Thanks to @goldjungee for that.

UPDATE:
In an attempt to get my graphics working i tried to insert this into my org.chameleon.Boot.plist:
<key>device-properties</key>
<string>7f0000000100000001000000730000000200000002 010c00d041030a000000000101060000027fff04002c000000 4100410050004c002c00690067002d0070006c006100740066 006f0072006d002d0069006400000008000000050062011400 00006800640061002d0067006600780000000d0000006f6e62 6f6172642d31</string>
This was recommended on post #2 of this thread. I tried this with both <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> yes and no, but both times i couldn't get it to load passed the apple boot screen.

UPDATE:
I just tried manually installing 'Chimera 1.11.1' - didn't seem to help.

Hi In Multibeast u can choose the option 1080p under Customization and Boot Options

Than u find in "finder" folder extra and there is a file called org.chameleon.boot.plist with the following Data. Maybe u can just change the resolution there.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

Thanks @goldjungee I added the line with my native resolution and both the apple boot up screen and OS are now in the correct resolution! (fist pump)

<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>"2048x1152x32"</string>

Many thanks - i'm still worried by the fact the graphics chip is being reported as a 2500, not a 4000 but perhaps that won't affect performance.

Are you testing with USB2 thumb drives because they won't work in the USB3 ports. However USB3 thumbdrives should work just fine. At least that's the way it is on my non-Gigabyte build and on the B75 one as well.

Try a Unibeast USB created with 10.8.1. I've had the same problem with the 10.8.2 USB on certain boards e.g. GA-B75M-D3V. Other boards like my Zotac are fine. Also disable VT-d if you can't boot with 10.8.2 after installation.

If you don't have access to 10.8.1, you may be able to boot the 10.8.2 installer with -x but I don't know whether this affects the installation in any way.

GT640 should not be a prob with "GraphicsEnabler"="No".
