Obtaining a G4 Cube in Australia (for modification)

ouch. looks like I'll get a cube in time for haswell, or maybe broadwell.

Just bought the Mrs an iMac, not allowed to touch it in case I 'do things'.

Happy modding, can't wait to see your approach

Now you have a dilemma of wether to hack or keep original, because by it's description it's should be a good runner (albeit a slow one).
It sure is a runner, horribly slow with original 20GB drive, and 192MB of ram. I ordered 1.5GB of ram off eBay for about $20, and had a 120GB (newer faster) drive lying around. I am interested to see how it will perform.

The case is in good condition. Apart from surface scratching (I assume this will polish out), there are no dings or deep scratches. I think a case of one careful owner.

What a steal you've got there Kiwi, If you want all the bits out of mine your welcome to them, not sure if anything works, I'll just bin them otherwise.
I have got my cube running on the kit out of my mini hack duel boot with the slot loader disk working like a charm.( only just finished it) well not completely finished I am waiting on a low profile CPU cooler and am going to invest in a replacement proxy switch.
I will put some photo's up probably tomorrow evening and show how the dc-dc PSU fits in. I'm glad I didn't wait for the thin mini board as I like the GA-Z77n WiFi board.

I'm just wondering how long it's gonna take before the mod bug hit's you. or will the desire to keep the cube unmolested be too great.
How's the engineering in the thing??

Rossi.

Another cube has come up on ebay. This one does not include a PSU so is untested, so may go for a lower price. Local pickup is offered from Melbourne. There does appear to be a noticeable scratch on the front near the apple logo, not sure how bad this is. I wont be bidding on this but would like someone else from this community to have the opportunity.

EDIT: SOLD: $220 + $25 shipping

Less than a week has passed and another Cube has listed in Melbourne for local pickup. This one comes complete with Cinema Display, and original speakers. Currently 1 bid only at $75, but since this one is working I would expect it to go for a lot more, especially with the monitor and speakers

2 Apple G4 Cube computers- retro!

For auction is two Apple G4 Cube computers. My husband has been an avid Apple nerd for years, and honestly, I'm sick of tripping over it all! So it all needs to go! I am selling these as a pair. They don't come with a monitor, but both were working when last checked.

Have this listing on watch list. Should be interesting to see the final minutes of the auction.

another cube listed, this time on Gumtree (au version of Craig's list), this one has no listed price, no PSU, untested, in my opinion probably dead, there looks like corrosion around the Video ports, normal scratching on the case. If you are in the Lismore area and want to check it out this could be a bargain.
