Smooth update. Still have the purple horizontal line glitch. Everything seems to work. NVMe controller is now generic as others have said. I'm running a 970 evo 250 GB.

NVME controller is labelled as "Generic" on my MacBook Pro(2015) as well, so doesn't seem to be hack related.

Hmm..but on my real Macbook Pro 2017 its labeled as Apple SSD Controller.

Did the update yesterday before this thread has been opened. Everything went fine. But also for me both NVMe drives are using a Generic SSD controller instead of the Apple SSD controller. Strange isn't it? I have dropped the SATA0 to SATA patch a week ago as I don't use any usual SATA port anymore. How could this name change happen?

For the 1st time my system updated with 1 reboot like a champ. :headbang:

I see some folks with info in NVMExpress tab of system info. Mine shows up in Sata/Sataexpress.
Cosmetic or is something setup wrong???

@ownliwon,

Samsung manufactured two variants of the MZHPV256HDGL, the first version they released (and most common) used an on-board AHCI controller, a year later they released a version with an on-board NVMe controller.

The fact that yours appears under Sata/Sataexpress would suggest that your have the AHCI variant.

Cheers
Jay
