I previously had OSX 10.10 Yosemite running with a Chimera bootloader. Originally it was using a Nvidia GTX 560, and with some work, and help from members of this community, I was able to upgrade the video card to a Nvidia GTA 960 using Nvidia web drivers.

Now I have upgraded to OSX 10.11 El Capitan. I did the install with my old GTX 560 card installed, using the 10.11 installation guide, now using CLover as the bootloader. I upgraded to 10.11.3 using software update. I then installed NVIDIA web drivers for OS X 10.11.3 (346.03.05). I rebooted and everything was working fine at full 1080p resolution. I cloned the drive to have as a backup and a base to work off of if I have any issues.

I then removed the GTX 560 and installed the GTX 960. When I boot up, my desktop is at a very low resolution and the Nvidia web drivers are not active. I tried setting the Nvidia web drivers to active (many times) but it just boots up to low resolution again.

I have tried adding nvda_drv=1 flag, but when i go that, I can't even boot, it will boot to a point but go to blank screen before reaching desktop.

Does anyone have any advice?

Thank you,

Matt

Change your system profile to iMac14,2 and add nvda_drv=1 to your config.

Wow. I could have sworn I tried that, but maybe not both combined. Simple fix, but thank you so much!

Hi everyone, been a long time reader and finally this past weekend I took the plunge and ordered and built my own custom. Here are the specs:

Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H rev1.2 firmware:F10
Intel Core i7-4790 Processor - BX80646I74790
EVGA GeForce GTX 960 4GB FTW GAMING ACX 2.0+
Seagate 3TB Desktop HDD SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache
Corsair Hydro Series H80i GT Performance Liquid CPU Cooler CW-9060017-WW
Seasonic 750W Power Supply ATX12V/EPS12V Energy Star Certified, Snow Silent 750;

Got the os installed and also the web drivers for nvidia for 10.11.3 when i reboot it won't boot into the OS. I get to the clover screen , i can see that nvda_drv=1 option is there i even tried changing around the smbios versions from 3,1 to iMac 14,2

it won't boot through unless i have nv_disable=1 turned on. It does not seem to detect the nvidia drivers.

I have looked around the forum and tried some of the things but none seem to work. Can anyone suggest/advise/help. attaching my config.plist also.

You have Inject/NVidia/True in your config. It should be false. Also, you should add the nvda_drv=1 boot flag to your config.

Slim .. thank you so much your advise worked. Strange ...i tried to take out the injection through multibeast but it did not take it out. I ended up editing the config.plist directly in the EFI drive and added -v and set injection to false. its now booting through all the way.

My hats off to you.

It is much easier to use Multibeast for the initial setup but then use Clover Configurator to make changes to your config once the install is complete.

I have this same problem, with a GA-P67A-UD3-B3-F7 motherboard, video card GTX 960, installed web drivers WebDriver-346.03.15f02. While booting, screen goes black and restarts. I can boot only if I delete the nvda_drv = 1, but with a low resolution. I set my system def to 14,2, Inject Nvda to false, but it keeps restarting.

The attached config.plist does not have the nvda_drv = 1, If I add it, it won't boot. I have read everything here, I have been working on this for about 15 hours. I don't know what else to do.

Help will be appreciated.

2016.09.19 update: OK, I went back to my original config.plist, 12,1 iMac, deleted Piker kext patch, changed the cable I had (DVI from the Video Card to VGA monitor input) to DVI-I from the video card to DVI-I monitor input, and magically, the drivers are loaded and I get the full resolution and 2GB video RAM. :)
It took me over 20 hours in front of my hackintosh to figure that out. I am very happy now!
