NVIDIA has just released their first alternate graphics drivers for OS X El Capitan 10.11. These are separate from the drivers Apple ships as standard, and should be considered experimental. These drivers have been known to solve OpenCL issues with certain applications, as well as providing better native GPU power management for certain devices.

NOTE: These drivers are currently the only method to get full acceleration for NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750, 750 Ti, 950, 960, 970, 980, 980 Ti, and TITAN X. 'Maxwell' graphics cards. There are no current Macs with these cards, so support is absent natively in OS X.

If you've installed the drivers before, you may get a notification to update to the new drivers from the built in System Preferences pane.

How to Install the Web Drivers:
In order to use the alternate drivers on a CustoMac, you must first install the driver package. Also make sure to choose NVIDIA Web Driver using the standard menubar or system preference pane then reboot.

NOTE: In addition to setting nvda_drv=1 to NVRAM, as required by real Macs, NVIDIA now adds nvda_drv=1 kernel flag to /Extra/org.Chameleon.boot.plist automatically. There are no additional steps to take.

Please note that these drivers should be considered experimental. If you aren't having any issues, do not install- the native OS X drivers work great for most people.

These drivers should work on any beta build and last until release is ready, as they're only versioned for 10.11 and the prefix of the build 15A.

Thanks NVIDIA! :thumbup::mrgreen:

Nice. Do they include Metal support?

based on discussion at netkas, metal is not yet complete. However they do provide acceleration to maxwell users who want to test 10.11.

It looks like work on metal has started.

They also no longer modify or replace NVDAStartup but instead now install NVDAStartupWeb

There are also steps to get CUDA working on 10.11 too with a little bit of work.

I love NVidia just a bit for doing this. Finally I get to play with the beta! (And discover that other than some apps not working and a different font hardly anything changed... ;) )

Anyone check if HDMI 2.0 @ 60hz working on 900-series nvidia GPUs in this release? Bought a 960 just to pipe out to a TV then found out 60hz isn't working (yet, hopefully) in the current Yosemite 10.4 web driver.

On my computer it says "This computer is not compatible with the NVIDIA Web Driver." i think because of system definition , But i tried changing my system definition to mac pro and other compatible computers , But it always stays the same .as iMac 27-inch ,late 2013. i used multibeast but it crushes , chameleon wizard doesn't work either , the smbios.plist is changed . i rebooted few times , no change . Can anybody help me please . Thank you .
