If Apple focuses on AMD can you tell me a single high end graphics card that will work without problems on my hackintosh? I have had problems for ages with my ati 7770. Everytime I would have problems booting I would remove the card and everything worked. I managed to get it working with a kext but can't repeat the install after that in order to move to a larger disk. I also tried cloning. Same behaviour. You get a system that stops with boot and works if you remove the graphics card.
So I am looking for an Nvidia card that works but things don't look well on that front either.. The integrated chip is not enough for my needs..

Currently you would probably be looking at the 980Ti or a 970. Either would give you good performance and should work with the current nVidia driver package. Pascal is a no-go for now at least, AMD has some support but requires workarounds. If you cant find (or afford) a new 980Ti then eBay might be an option. I imagine some people might be selling them in order to upgrade to Pascal.

The Buyers Guide has a section for graphic cards, use that as a starting point to narrow down your search, and have a look through the user builds section to see what others have working successfully.

Actually the 970 (and probably 980) has issues with Adobe apps. I have to turn down acceleration settings in app and still get glitches.
I wonder if a fully working card even exists anymore for osx86. I had to change my 760 because I had to disable GPU acceleration altogether in Lightroom with some later versions.
These days I try to survive on this OS and do all the work I can. I'm sure there will come a time when osx86 has become so glitchy/unstable I'll have to move back to Windows (other option is buying an iMac for a small fortune)
Personally I wouldn't even recommend the 7/9 series anymore if you're doing graphic work.

The 760 has native OOB support in OSX and has done for some time. I run this one; its been up and running without issue since around early 2014 I think.

I can't speak for Adobe apps since I don't use them, however, the card runs with or without the nvidia driver / cuda packages.

NVIDIA has released alternate graphics drivers for macOS Sierra 10.12.3. These are separate from the drivers Apple ships as standard, and should be considered experimental. These drivers have been known to solve OpenCL issues with certain applications, as well as providing better native GPU power management for certain devices.

NOTE: These drivers are currently the only method to get full acceleration for NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750, 750 Ti, 950, 960, 970, 980, 980 Ti, and TITAN X 'Maxwell' graphics cards. There are no current Macs with these cards, so support is absent natively in macOS.

If you've installed the drivers before, you may get a notification to update to the new drivers from the built in System Preferences pane.

How to Install the Web Drivers:
In order to use the alternate drivers on a CustoMac, you must first install the driver package.

As of macOS Sierra, nvda_drv=1 in config.plist under Boot > Arguments is no longer working to initiate drivers. Clover has been updated with a new System Parameter setting called NvidiaWeb.

There's a new method for enabling the NVIDIA Web Drivers in the latest versions of Clover. It can be turned on and off by editing /Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/config.plist to add SystemParameters/NvidiaWeb. This takes the place of nvda_drv=1 boot flag, which will not work in macOS Sierra.

1. Mount EFI Partition
2. Open /Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/config.plist with text edit, Xcode, or Plist Editor Pro
3. Edit as shown below:

Code (Text):
<key>SystemParameters</key>
<dict>
<key>InjectKexts</key>
<string>YES</string>
<key>InjectSystemID</key>
<true/>
<key>NvidiaWeb</key>
<true/>
</dict>

4. Remove Boot/Arguments/nvda_drv=1 if necessary
5. Save and reboot

I lost my hope to get this 1070 support.
Apple is a company, that lives too much in the past

why would they support a product they don't use?..

Has anyone tried injecting a maxwell id to a pascal card?
Is it possible Maxwell drivers will work with Pascal?

I have a fully working GX 950, no glitches
