Please give one example of malware that takes advantage of SIP being disabled.
Malware doesn't need SIP to be disabled to cause untold damage. Don't install malware.

Correction: There is never a need to disable SIP. Disabling SIP should only be done for testing purpose (for example to test unsigned Kexts), but in everyday use, disabling SIP is not necessary and increase security risks.

With Clover injection and patching everything required for a Hackintosh can be done by Clover and in that case it works even if SIP is kept fully enabled (0x0). Even to use old NVidia Web Driver a Clover patch can be used to disable the check on macOS build.

As a bonus feature of that practice, is that the files in the system partition are totally untouched and so a backup of it (being with TimeMachine or Carbon Copy Cloner or any other backup tool) can be restored even on real Macs.

In a nutshell:
The best practice for using unsigned Kexts or patching installed Kexts is to use Clover Kexts injection/patching functionally and keep SIP fully enabled (0x0).

This is true. And it's more about compatibility/app expectations than it is about security.

It certainly can...

Not really, you are forgetting: SIP is annoying - my main reason for disabling it. Like yourself i don't have unsigned kexts that need to be allowed. But I am also guessing the majority install their unsigned kexts to /Library/Extensions - enabling SIP to install kexts will exclude these from the prelinked kernel (and it just happens that it gets rebuilt when you install kexts, but not when you re-enable SIP) AND... the security benefits are minimal on Hackintosh - the EFI partition where you are loading all this unsigned code from is not protected by SIP!

SIP is admittedly very annoying. And the security implications of disabling are minimal and even less on a hack.

Please give one example of malware that takes advantage of SIP being disabled.

Almost all mac malware has to assume that SIP is enabled and work around that since most Macs will have it enabled. Herd immunity sort of thing . . .

Irony doesn't seem to get through. There are no real security risks from disabling SIP. And Macs had malware for more than a decade with or without it “Mac spyware stole millions of user images over 13 years” https://arstechnica.com/information...at-allegedly-spied-on-mac-users-for-13-years/
I have unsigned kexts from EyeTV (https://www.geniatech.eu) and Genius (http://us.geniusnet.com), hardly a security risk.
Getting back to topic, iFrodo has been perpetuating this myth of the NVIDIA lag being related to SIP. pastrychef, myself and others can attest it has nothing to do with it. I made a fresh install of 10.13.13 with SIP enabled, installed 156 and the lag was still there.

So, I was reading and some MBP owners have also had Nvidia lag on High Sierra:

https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...macbook-pro-nvidia-gpu-lag-yet.2088300/page-6

Some users there are also reporting that the 104 Web driver is the best driver they've had too . . .

I'm actually now presuming that some of this is Apple's fault and some is probably Nvidia's fault, since they also make the stock driver. I wish Nvidia and Apple could get back together and play nice. Big missed opportunity for Nvidia. :/

I reported this 2 pages back, but thanks for keeping it in the light.

Hmm, we're getting contradictory claims about 387.10.10.10.25.158. Some users are saying they're laggy, whilst others are saying they're fine.
Benjamin, I can confirm laggy .158 iMac17,1 10.13.3 Suplemental Update (17D102)
Your script worked painlessly and perfectly! It installed .106 driver, lag gone for good!
Thank you!

Is there any news with 10.13.4 Public Beta 3 and nVidia drivers working better?

AFAIK, same issues with the same drivers. There's no special Nvidia driver for the macOS betas.

Thanks for the info.

Hopefully nVidia wisens up and updates the official drivers and fixes the Window Server issues. They would sell more cards now that eGPU is officially supported.

For now I moved on to AMD.
