NVIDIA Releases Alternate Graphics Drivers for 10.9.2 (331.01.01f01)

NVIDIA has released their alternate graphics drivers for OS X Mavericks 10.9.2. These are separate from the drivers Apple ships as standard, and should be considered experimental. If you've installed the drivers before you can update from System Preferences.

How to Install the Web Drivers:
In order to flag the alternate drivers on a CustoMac using Chimera bootloader, you must install the package and also add the flag manually to the chameleon.org.Boot.plist.

1. Open Finder
2. Navigate to /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist
3. Open in TextEdit
4. Add nvda_drv=1 to Kernel Flags as shown:

Example Usage:

5. Save and reboot

You should be on the new NVIDIA drivers.

Please note that these drivers should be considered experimental. If you aren't having any issues, do not install- the native OS X drivers work great for most people.

This driver apparently puts the string in org.chameleon.boot.plist upon selection of the web driver.
As when i went into the boot.plist it was already in there.

Hmm- not sure- I looked at the script, and it only mentions NVRAM- what version of Chameleon are you using?

So does it fix the openCL bug, where the GPU clock would stay locked at high freq ?

What about the 700 series?

Yes, these are the cards that have the "for Mac" designation. The drivers are designed to better support expansion cards for Mac Pro (pre-trashcan).

They won't be listing off the shelf cards, but you can see by the listing which card families are supported.
