Nvidia GTX 1080 + LG Ultrafine 5K full 5K@60hz Success!

Did you mean using the vega ? I have no experience about this. I have heard that Vega is perfect fit for the LG 5K, nothing need to do , the macos drive it natively and perfectly.

I see, it's the early adopter's curse.

I installed a Vega RX 64, everything works out of the box, animations are smooth.
However, I can't get the 5k (native) to work at all.
It keeps detecting the display as two (1) and (2).

Please, let me know if you can think of anything.

A bit more info on what I've tried so far:

I'm using iMac17,1 on my SMBIOS (Also tried MacPro6,1 with no luck)

Disabling all the kexts on clover gives me the exact same results.
I tried all the combinations between these:

CoreDisplayFixup.kext ON / OFF
WhateverGreen.kext ON / OFF
VegaGraphicsFixup.kext ON / OFF

Titan Ridge
Alpine Ridge

I also tried the NVIDIA GTX 1080 and that works with 5k, there's just no webdrivers for mojave available yet.

Tried booting on my windows 8.1 first (which works, 10bpc included)

When it gets to the macOs, two displays - every.damn.time.

OH, weird. There is a override edid for LG 5K , it make macos to recognize the two dp to one display . did the LG 5K is shown correctly in the About->Display ? Maybe you may post a screen shot here. I am curious about that. I think it should be ok. every thing is mac's support hardware.

What if you connect the display after boot? Or power cycle the display after boot?

Super weird....
I tried unplugging (& power cycle), it only detects as two monitors.

I don't know. Maybe disable iGPU? Switch the cables on the Vega?

Remove all the graphics kexts (CoreDisplayFixup, RadeonVegaFansSpeed, VegaGraphicsFixup) except WhateverGreen.

Read the WhateverGreen documentation at https://github.com/acidanthera/WhateverGreen and the FAQs. Try agdpmod=vit9696 or agdpmod=pikera or agdpmod=vit9696,pikera.

Tried all of that with no luck.
At this point I can only assume it's the MST that's missing somewhere.

Hi! So I was about to buy a Vega RX 64, but then I saw this post. So now I'm considering trying it. I'm still on High Sierra.

My current build:
GTX 980ti
MSI Z170A
Alpine Ridge

Could you outline the steps I would need to make this work? I tried to read through all the posts, just want to make sure I'm on the same page.

Will I be able to adjust brightness?

I finally figured out what was the problem (5 mins ago) and I can't believe I solved it.
It turns out that I had a kernel patch (probably inherited from the USB thumb that I used to install Mojave) that disabled AGDP.

Since I (still) don't know what AGDP is I was reading every single post everywhere and this one has it highlighted:
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...d-graphics-cards.171291/page-239#post-1768814

I also used this SSDT and it worked like a charm

Will I be able to adjust brightness?

For brightness I use Monitor Control and it works like a charm
Just make sure you install and reboot afterwards...

It took me a week!

Thanks Y'all
