NUC as a hackintosh?

I am using a Mac mini from 2012, and had hoped for an upgrade from Apple this year.
I like the small formfactor, so I was wondering if it is possible to buy an Intel NUC and use it as a hackintosh?
Further more, I am using a Thunderbolt Display, and have read a lot of online posts, and as I understand - only a few motherboards supports thunderbolt displays?
I haven't found any NUC, where it is possible.
Can anyone give me a good advice for an alternative to Apples Mac mini ? If NUC not is an option, then what?

If you try searching this site with the term "NUC" you'll find over a hundred links related to hackintoshing a NUC mini pc.

Apple did release a new Mac Mini, just not at the time you started this thread.
