No free update for iWork 2013 possible

this sounds like the reason why my 'software updates' from MAS isn't working in general.

is there a way to check and fix the boardserialnumber is injected?

i don't know a thing about how to setup clover, and don't have a vm.

something in the chameleon wizard to click?

i've rebuild kext permissions and cache, ec reset, and etc. don't want to do a fresh install.

Chameleon ignores boardserialnumber, you have to wait until next version.

If you want to try Clover, here is the guide:

It is simpler than you think. Just read "Migrate from Chimera/Chameleon bootloader to Clover." section on post#1 http://www.tonymacx86.com/hp-proboo...l-mavericks-clover-bootloader.html#post683330. BTW, you can always switch to Chameleon or Clover in BIOS Boot option. Both are not mutually exclusive. Two boot-loaders is better then one, for redundancy.

If fact all you need is just boot your existing Mavericks partition from EFI USB you could create by following the guide (skip Mavericks installer partition part). I would suggest to update config.plist in Clover folder with your serial - you can find it in /Extra/smbios.plist. This way you machine will be identified correctly. Change you BIOS boot settings to enable EFI boot, then change it back to use Chameleon and boot as usual.

The problem lies on Chameleon bootloader not injecting BoardSerialNumber properly. Using Vmware trick or switching to Clover fix this.

Chameleon ignores boardserialnumber, you have to wait until next version.
I have reported the Chameleon bug here:

Using this method I could also update aperture and iphoto, whereas I'm not been able to update imovie yet, because MAS complains about the video card of the VM that is not powerful enough for the latest imovie version, and prevents the update to be downloaded.
Exactly, but you can just use Virtual Machine instead. The sequence described earlier works, just instead of installing trials, install you own copies ( legit or not) to VM and use your existing Apple store account to update in VM, after this you will become a legit owner of the products it updated and even failed to update (imovie). So then you can apply updates on your upgraded real partition, and all will work.

I was able to create VM with USB stick, just use custom VM and do all the way to boot. it will fail, but then connect you USB when VM is running and allow fusion to connect USB to VM. In VM boot screen select "Boot Manager" and select your USB drive to boot from (it may say USB EFI, but it will boot fine from UBeast)

You don't need a virtual machine. The workaround is to schedule the update or install from notification. This way is much easier.

I have your fix without having to use another mac.

- Open AppStore
- Goto Updates Tab
- On the top right where it says "Update All" click the drop down arrow
- Select update in an hour

It will update iMovie in an hour. I had to go back to my iMac and enter my password but after I did that it updated iMovie!

hey, so i updated my post on the other thread...and yes, i finally got it to work using a slightly different approach which involved telling software update to install it at a later time automatically via the sub menu next to "install"...

If you really want to ignore my excellent advice, then don't use the App Store to update - wait for Notification Center to let you know that the update is waiting, and click the "install" button in the notification. That bypasses the compatibility check and installs this incompatible version of iPhoto on your previously functional system (this is an awful bug, it means we'll all end up with broken software eventually).

I have posted the message in the other thread:

Can't update to the new iWork:

I know it's not a perfect solution, but if you have access to a real Mac then download/install/upgrade iWork on that machine, then when you come back to your Hackintosh and go to the Purchased tab of the App Store then you should be able to download/install the latest version.

Hope this helps.

Have you ever verify this solution ?
I don't think it would work, or else people would help purchasing free iWorks for each other.
