no audio for alc889

I have 10.6.8 running on my ga-z68xp-ud5 gigabyte motherboard, I have followed the instructions for audio using multibeast. I have no problems starting up its just when its on the windows audio is nowhere to be found. Except in the system profiles and i go to built in audio it shows 2 profiles for audio. So it is clearly recognizing the audio, but in system preferences its missing. This has been bugging me all day does anyone know of any type of fix?
