Look closely: Web/4. Support for S/PDIF Out
Did you find the motherboard optical connector?
Did you install the optional optical connector?

I have the optical connector but I'm not using it.
I also didn't see anything in the post regarding "Support for S/PDIF Out"

Gigabyte does not show an optical connector; you have a gray port instead.

Okay, so then I don't need to worry about it then? Or is there something else I need to install?

Toleda, you're a life saver!! Sound works great now! I even got HDMI sound to work. Thank you so much for taking the time to help me!

1.There are no output or input devices in system preferences, so sound is not working, dual boot with windows - in windows, sound works perfect, so it's not a mobo problem.

2.Osx 10.12.6/Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R/FH version bios/Intel Xeon x5650/Nvidia GTX1050
