No Audio Devices - Realtek ALC AppleHDA [Guide]

Status
Not open for further replies.
Hmm, I'm not sure why the config.plist and IOReg would be different (as is apparent by now the switch to Clover has thrown me for a loop). I'll take your suggestion and do a restore. Thanks.

Thank you for doing this, my apologies if I posted in the wrong thread at first. I have enough tonymac tabs open to only see the first few letters at the moment. hoping you can help me recover my crashed build. After attempting to update the audio it has been chaos.

What Codec? ALC885, 887, 888, 889, 892, 898 or 1150
ALC 898

Which Audio ID? 1, 2 or 3
Audio ID 1

What Injection? kext, dsdt, ssdt, Clover, Chameleon, Chimera
Clover Injection

Hope I answered your questions below correctly - sorry if the formatting is a little messed up, I typed it in Word first and then pasted it in...

II. Problem Reporting
(post to this thread with files)

1. Description of audio problem
Original problem: No audio output device shows in System Preferences.

After running this command –

audio_pikeralphaALC-110.command.zip

  • patch kernel cache
  • native AppleHDA.kext (signed)
  • installs AppleHDAxxx.kext (ex., L/E/AppleHDA892.kext)
  • not supported: ALC269 and ALC283

My previously working setup crashed. Through hours of troubleshooting, I was able to get it back to where I can safely get to the Clover splash screen, but attempting to boot directly into OSX will reboot me. I’m trying to get a picture in Verbose mode, but with the SSD it’s going very quickly…

2. OS X version/motherboard model/BIOS version/processor/graphics
Version: 10.11.2 (El Capitan)
Motherboard: GA-Z77X-UD5H
BIOS version: not sure
Processor: Intel i7 3770k
Graphics: GeForce 650 FTW 2 GB

3. Procedure/Guide Used (Realtek ALC AppleHDA, Post #1)

Sorry - not sure how to do this

8. Screen shots:

9. Terminal/Shell/Export Test As. . . (if script used)

· audio_realtekALC-100.command

  1. (Didn’t save the terminal output – wish I would have, didn’t realize it had the power to crash me)
· AppleHDA8Series.sh

10. Clover (if installed)
0. EFI/CLOVER/config.plist
1. EFI/CLOVER/misc/debug.log (Set config.plist/Boot/Debug/YES)

Nothing ran successfully. No files were changed.
Terminal Output is very helpful.
Try again.
What GA-Z77X-UD5H rev?

Thank you for reviewing my files, I appreciate it. Just to confirm - by try again, which method would you suggest? My initial thought was to avoid running the same command script that crashed me again and try a different method. (If I could figure out how to undo whatever crashed me and at least boot successfully without sound I'd be happy at this point)

Since I can only get into Safe Mode at this point, can you confirm that is where I should try it?

Sorry, just trying to be cautious to avoid another crash...

I believe it's Rev 1.0, I bought it back in June 2013. Here's some additional info from the BIOS if it helps:
Model name Z77X-UD5H
BIOS Version: F14
BIOS Date: 8/22/2012

How can I confirm?

1. No audio devices appear (No Codec)
2. OSX Yosemite 10.11.2 / GA-Z170-HD3 DDR3 (rev. 1.0) / 4 / Intel Core i3-6100 / GTX 650 Ti
3. Used this guide, found no codecs in DCPIManager.

Since I can only get into Safe Mode at this point, can you confirm that is where I should try it?
Audio script cannot crash system; not one system file was touched.
Installing audio does not make an unbootable system bootable, fix the system problem.
Green port audio does not work in OS X or Linus with Z77X-UD5H/Rev 0.

Thanks. It was really strange how my system became unbootable after I ran the script and restarted, so my guess was that was what did it. Sorry if it was a dumb question. Did you see anything in any of the zip file data, iojones, plist, etc that would indicate what to suggest next?

Code:
config.plist is a mess; surprised it worked.

That was a combination of what the Clover Configurator generated and what I had from the original Clover USB boot.

I've attached a new config.plist from someone else who had pretty much the same hardware as me. I used N3onLit3's config as a base.

Do you see anything in this that you think I should change? Still the same end result, I can only boot into Safe Mode. Still getting the "boot1 /boot 5" message at first.

Also attached is the boot.log file.
