No APFS/TRIM?

Used a Crucial MX300 to install Sierra and I didn't see the APFS format available. Does the OS not support it?

Does trimforce enable TRIM or is an additional kext needed for it to run properly? Can't I just run the Crucial application?

APFS is only fully supported since High Sierra.
