I've been running 10.9 comfortably for several years, but it is time to move on. The question is how and to where. Please relocate if there is a more suitable place.

I see that my motherboard is no longer on the list. So:

  • How far up the iOS food chain can my current configuration go?
  • Is Mojave even a possibility?
  • I am still running the original BIOS. Does that have to be upgraded?
  • Would it be simpler to convert this machine to Windows and build up a new machine for 10.14?
All thoughts appreciated as I really don't know what to do next...

Nowhere, IOS is for mobile devices like iPhones and iPads.

Is Mojave even a possibility?
Yes, no problem.

No.

No.

If you are using the Clover boot-loader :
Backup.
Test your backup to ensure that you can get back to where you are now.
Install using the Installation Guide over the top of your existing installation (without formatting the drive).

If you are using the Chimera boot-loader you should first convert to Clover.

Alternatively you can make a fresh installation using the Installation Guide.

Yes, I know that. I think it was a hold over from looking at the page where you check off the various devices one has. MacOS!!

Actually I don't remember which boot-loader I used as it has been over 4 years. I think I tried them both but I don’t know what I ended up with. Is there any easy way to tell?

Also, I remember that there was a recommendation when setting up 10.9 to only use one 8Gb memory card. After the system was up and running, you could plug in another card. Is that still and issue or can I start out with both cards installed?

I will buy a 256Gb USB flash drive and back up to that as I know that I am somewhat beyond 128Gb.

Thanks!
