Newbie question: Hackintosh on Asus G752VT

Status
Not open for further replies.
Would it be too much involvement getting one of my spare iMac
MAC/OS (Mountain Lion or any MAC/OSes thereafter) to run on
an Asus G752VT-DH74 laptop I just recently purchased?
It has 24 GB of RAM and one of those nVMe? SSD (memory stick)
hard drives (M.2 ) with the capability of adding another 3 but
also has an SATA hard drive (I may upgrade from rotational to SSD- 1TB).
I was growing tired of my Macbook Pro 17" (old USB 2.0 ports ) and
its DVD/Superdrive malfunctioned ... And I was having some difficulty
reinstalling Bootcamp (though I can use Parallels but wanted to have the option
of running Windows on Mac standalone with all resources dedicated to Windows
and not share memory with Mac).
So maybe I can run Mac OS on the Windows-based computer that
is updated (USB 3.0 ports, USB-C/Thunderbolt 3)

Is it worth the effort, would it take too much time to get everything in place before
I look into this, like to get the appropriate drivers (reminiscent of Bootcamp drivers
)? I am not sure where to start as I have never done this.... I want to make sure
the hard drive (which one I will use ) is in place first to install whatever I need on
it and not create another partition on the main drive in case something goes wrong.
Before spinning wheels to do this, is this Asus computer type compatible
(hardware-wise)...?

Well thank you.

I think I followed the instructions, directions as best I could
I get some Invalid security signature warning/error in the BIOS
when attempting to boot from the resultant USB drive (with Sierra and Clover bootloader).

As per guide, you must disable secure boot.

I just got the new nVMe SSD M.2 Intel drive today (512 GB)...
so I thought I would continue where I left off... I did manage to disable that
secure boot a few days ago and was able to boot to clover...
However now that the pci-E drive is in place for me to move forward,
I feel I am blocked again, I see some dumb circle with a line crossed through it
like a Stop or cannot go further...

So it is always some obstacles getting this to install... you think you have
accomplished progress only to be blocked by something else.

Really this should be an easier process like how Bootcamp installs Windows easily
without hiccups on Mac.

Well I guess I am going to have to reinvent the wheel with this and print all the
instructions , details to do this right if it is at all possible.
I read somewhere that maybe the problem I am experiencing is because I may not
have formatted the USB flash drive to GUID or something while in Mac OS..
so now I got to get out the Macbook and start this process all over again.
<sigh>
But I did see the clover bootloader and some options to boot windows from various
NTFS folders showing... I saw some command line options ...maybe I have to
get the instructions again to see if I am on the right track ? But seeing a circle with
a line through it cross was not encouraging and has lowered my spirits in doing
this for now. I have gone into a depression with this when I thought it wiould be smooth
sailing... since the disabling of the secure boot...

Read FAQ regarding NVMe.

Well, I am not sure why I would see some circle with some line, diagonal line through it.

You need to boot verbose to get detailed info. It is probably "still waiting for root device"...

I don't know but it can get a little frustrating when you spend lots
of time creating the USB flash drive on a Mac , trying to get that right
then when you do create a bootable flash that seems to work but only
get blocked by some stupid circle with a line crossed through it, it is
a bit discouraging when you think you have tried to get things right...
now I am lost, do I need to recreate the USB flash or what?
Do I need to start over?

Is there an easier way to install Mac OS (any flavor from MountainLion to Sierra)
on a PC without blockages, hiccups and road blocks... I am even afraid that if figure
out how to bypass this current hindrance of the stop sign symbol, if I did install, will
i have to face many hardware driver problems and compatibility issues thus blocking
again and again progress.
Can this be streamlined like Boot camp an easier seamless process to install
Windows on Macs? and the drivers are easily accessible

Your profile is still not filled out as requested in the guide.
If you have recent hardware with NVMe/Skylake/etc, you should not expect it to be easy.

its called learning, read up on some forums, do as Rehabman said and boot verbose mode to see the error

Okay, I have come back to this... 2 weeks later...
I have better things to do with my time than to waste
to struggle with this seemingly difficult process.

I added the -v option and this occurred
Error message: Mac-F42D86C8 and some message about not compatible with
this version of Mac OS (I was trying Sierra )...

Sierra does not support MacPro3,1. You need to use an appropriate config.plist that has a correct SMBIOS.

Okay
really something told me I should have started with trying with Mountain Lion... but
I had updated the computer, Mac to Sierra and though I had the Mountain Lion Install
binary or file, I think I got messages that I could not go back to Mountain Lion since
El Capitan and/or Sierra was installed thus I had no access to (revert back to) Mountain Lion
and could not create the USB flash just using a mounted Mountain Lion... who knows?

Well, when I have time again and get my bearings on this, I will try to do this again from
the MacMini still running Mountain Lion.... or I will have to reformat the hard drive on the Macbook
and another iMac to reinstall a previous version of MacOS... Apple has made this process
difficult too.

well thanks, I'll get to it when I can.

Since you previously mention having an NVMe drive, it likely means you hardware is quite new. And therefore not supported by ML.

Your profile is not even filled out, and it is clearly requested both in the FAQ and the Clover guide (linked from the FAQ). Both the FAQ and the Clover guide were linked from earlier posts in this very thread. You seem to be ignoring advice.
