Greetings Hackintosh community!
Newbie here and this will be another "will this config work" thread .

I'd like extend my hand and thank you in advance.

I'm considering building a hackintosh that is completely up to date with high specs.. I want a machine for music production (Reason) that is fast, reliable and silent. I want to do this for my home music studio. It is time to upgrade to a power computer rather than wasting time waiting:beachball: on a new iMac or wasting money on a MBP when I don't need another laptop.

_My budget is between $2000 and $2250.

Welcome!
I'm not sure about the firewire latency thing, but what I do know is that you need the right socket to fit in your motherboard. You have a 2011 cpu and a 1155 motherboard. You need to decided if you want a 2011 cpu/mobo combo or a 1155 cpu/mobo combo. The 2011 is going to be marginal better than the top 1155 system. The 1155 system is going to work much better with OSX. By better I mean you are going to have native sleep, power management, etc.

You can do one of the sets from the list below:

LGA 2011:
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116492&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=4902415&SID=
Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16813128531&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=4902415&SID=

LGA 1155:
CPU:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116501&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=4902415&SID=
Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128559&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=4902415&SID=

There is a large price difference between the two and to be honest, the 1155 socket is better supported. The 3770K competes with the 3930K with almost all benchamarks. This is assuming you are overclocking.

MechSoup,

Thank you very much for your response.

I'll be getting the LGA 1155 cpu/mobo combo as you suggested. Like you said, it's better to have native sleep, power management, etc. Yes, I'm willing to overclock the 3770K.

Thanks again, I learned something new today.
