Unless there is a difference between the K and non-K series, although I can't think why there would be, this thread would suggest that flashing the motherboard from USB is not possible on Gigabyte boards.
Hm, interesting.
What I find odd is that the oldest BIOS Gigabyte offers for the H87M-D3H ist version F9, and they say this is the first version that supported any 4th generation CPU at all. So if the board came with an even older version, then it shouldn't work with any Haswell CPU out of the box.
No news from the shop yet, by the way.

The shop called. They resolved the issue by updating the BIOS to F9. They said the previously installed version was F4. They had to use an older Pentium CPU, because F4 doesn't support any Haswell CPU at all.
Gigabyte: : for still selling H87 MOBOs without Haswell support OOTB.
I fetched my stuff from the shop and put everything together already. Now I'm about to attempt my first Hackintosh install. Wish me luck!
