In regards to the OP:
I have a strange feeling that the next MacPro will be EPYC !


8 channels DDR4 and a WHOPPING 128 PCIe lanes.
Not to mention MASSIVE core count at mere 180W. Sure - it's a lot of heat but the IHS is twice as big which means it should be a bit easier to cool down.

Apple says the computer will ship with an 8-core Xeon processor, with configurations that scale up to an 18-core Xeon processor, 5K display, and an all-new AMD Radeon Vega GPU. You’ll also be able to shell out for up to 16GB of VRAM, up to 128GB of data corruption-protecting ECC RAM, and up to 4TB for SSD storage.
